The premise of your argument is kind of flawed as you are pitting serialized (in some cases) cutting edge programming against the "blockbuster".What is narcos really doing that traffic or American gangster even, didn't do before it? The fact that it's about Escobar don't really change the fact that it's a familiar formula.

I personally think GoT is getting worse each season but fans swear up and down it's the greatest give me a matinee viewing of a cloud atlas any day.
fukk... even the oscar winners are getting shyttier by the year. They are getting boring as fukk. Birdman, fukking birdman won best picture. And about narcos, name an american gangster that did what escobar did.
Kidnapping ex presidents daughters, killing presidential candidates, burning court houses full of evidence.
Building his own prison
Bombing airplanes
Basically having a whole country running scared
That guy was not just a drug dealer, he was a terrorist
Sure GOT fell off, but it still has unexpected shyt happening that has you :ohhh::mjcry::whoo:
Even when i watched house of cards
that guy shooting frank. I did not see that coming

the Oscars have been like that for the most part since the mid 00s. Its like they feel the more obscure and indie makes it artsty which makes the whole ceremony seem more high brow it's all very pretentious

I've been feeling this way for a while. I love nuance and seeing characters more fleshed out. With most movies I feel steps have to either be skipped/rushed or that too much time is spent laying out backstory to the point that the main story is rushed. The one thing I'd love to see move to the TV format is some of these biopics. Every biopic I've seen no matter how great has felt rushed or had to skip over a lot of crucial stuff.
