I think TV shows in that 10 - 13 episode lane are way better than blockbuster movies and MOST other movies. But a great movie is better than a great TV series. Sometimes the time investment just becomes too much for a TV show. And generally speaking movies still get the better talent behind and in front of the camera working on them. But yeah cable TV drama is your best best for consistently engaging stuff.

Is Force Awakens that bad? On RT critics give it 92% and fans give it 90%, plus it made 2 billion :ld:

I ain't seen it but that's some positive reaction, yet everyone on this site seems to hate it

It's very derivative of all the Star Wars movies before it and they emasculated the Black male lead. The last point is why here especially it gets a lot of hate.

The 30 and under generation are the biggest movie ticket buyers I'm guessing...... and I can't see that generation being fully engaged in a deep narrative that's driven by fleshed out characters...... at least not enough to do blockbuster numbers

Books are better than movies.

Long-form dramatic TV is better than movies.

You dig in to the details and motivations more when the story fleshes out.

Honestly, comedy is really the only thing suitable in short-form. I mean other genres clearly have done it well in shortform but longer stories just make more sense. Honestly I wish they did more of the bigger names in comic book movies in a long form format. I said it before but X-men on the fx channel with the budget of game of thrones would kill. I would kill to see that.

So i just watched The Force awakens and halfway trough it i realized that i dont give a shyt .
I never felt scared when the good characters were in danger, never felt any hatred for the bad guys, nothing.

Sure the CGI is great but the writing is just lazy. Keep it simple, don't take any chances, just give the herd what it wants to see. (to me it was a remake of A new hope)

This seems to be the case for most of the blockbusters i've seen in the last few years (Ultron, Mad max, Jurassic park etc) They all have a feeling of been there done that to them.

I feel more entertained and hooked by TV shows tbh.
Shows like GOT, House of cards, Narcos, Sherlock etc are superior than most of the movies that came out in the last 2-3 years (and im not just talking about block busters here). The writing is way better and they just feel fresh to me. Sure the acting is still better in movies (for the most part)

Maybe it's the customers fault, ppl like cg so much that hollywood puts all their money in that area and just says "fukk it" to a good story. :yeshrug:
:salute: You see the light. TV been killing movies lately.

Movies are lowkey trash to me. More often than not after I watch a movie I'm either not impressed or just disappointed. Big budget, small budget, foreign or whatever. I have to have zero expectations before watching a movie. Not the case with tv

The best writers are in TV now.

I'd rather watch daredevil s2 than go peep BVS

But i like both mediums. I'm a movie stan and like the finality of them but TV shows can be fun to follow and binge. But so many shows fall off i can never put TV above movies

The premise of your argument is kind of flawed as you are pitting serialized (in some cases) cutting edge programming against the "blockbuster".What is narcos really doing that traffic or American gangster even, didn't do before it? The fact that it's about Escobar don't really change the fact that it's a familiar formula.

I personally think GoT is getting worse each season but fans swear up and down it's the greatest give me a matinee viewing of a cloud atlas any day.
