...and why is it in a predominately black league of millionaire black athletics is the league run by predominately white owners. I would think in all the years that the NBA has existed surely the league would have more black owners (eg. retired NBA players) running the show. Instead a few will become NBA reporters.

:dwillhuh:

How many retired NBA players do you think have enough money to be the majority owner of an NBA team?

Other than Nolan Ryan, who partnered up with someone, I can't think of any other former athletes owning a major league team?

and hence the problem. Should NBA players be compensated more??

Do the owners make money off the blood and sweat of NBA players or do the owners really perform work that benefits the league?

Surely a few of these retired NBA millionaires can pull together their funds and own a team?

But how many retired NBA millionaires are there? Most athletes go broke after retirement.

Go to the free agency thread and see how many people are complaining about players getting paid too much.

Do the owners make money off the blood and sweat of NBA players or do the owners really perform work that benefits the league?

They pay the players, coaches, leases for the stadium.....they run the team.....what other line of work is the owner not making the most money??? And there are a bunch of teams that break even or lose money. For some owners, this shyt it just a hobby.

Surely a few of these retired NBA millionaires can pull together their funds and own a team?

How do we solve this problem?

If u are saying that people believe NBA players make too much money but yet they don't have enough money to own a team... then what does that say about the league?

Sure, we'll pay these black guys to play ball and net millions for the the league but we'll make sure to pay them just enough so that they can't purchase or becomes owners of a team? :ohhh:

Should players be compensated for their skills or with the intent of paying them enough to become majority owners of teams?

Bulls supposed to sign John Lucas to 25M a year so in 10 years he can partner up with a few other former players to buy a team?

Should the average team payroll be 500M?

...except that the NBA players receive compensation for their talents.

In a league that is predominatey black, in a league owned by predominately white owners where many players don't have a say as to which team they will ultimately end up playing for.

In a league where a player can be traded in an instant without notice or protest. Where owners can decided how much they are willing to pay for their slave.... I mean player. Teams can match prices, pay higher or many times even lower. Sometimes teams pay based on the player's experience and age, or based on certain skills where they players play for their massa... I mean for the NBA basketball clubs.

Sometimes the players have to uproot and leave their plantation... I mean basketball courts and go to another state with greener pastures many times or colder climates.

Interesting comparisions.... the real only difference is that player are rewarded millions for their hard work at entertaining the masses and has a choice in the matter but during slavery ofcourse this was not the case.

.....by the way, I'm black.... just want to hear if yall thoughts. Perhaps this might be an idea for a research paper at your local college.

I'm already getting ready for the :rudy: and :childplease: faces.

But in sports you can retire and go work somewhere else.
