Sports is the only thing on live TV....pointing to the TV deals is misleading. Like previously mentioned in this thread, the TV deals the NBA signs still comes off the backs of MJ, Kobe, Bron and most recently Steph. The latest TV deal isn't rewarding the 3 point era. The next TV they sign they will have to answer for the inferior product, but they have some time to figure it out.
Yea the NBA has some huge issues once Bron and Steph are gone. Let’s be real here. The fact that the marquee matchup on Christmas was the Lakers and Warriors tells you all you need to know. The league is in trouble once they leave. The NBA used to be must see tv on Christmas

You got 6’9 nikkas spamming threes. nikkas flopping. nikkas not playing back to backs. The best whiteboys ain’t from here. Wack sneakers. They should at least push the season back and have most of it during the baseball season

As a lapsed fan, the best/peak most def was the Attitude Era (sadly saying this since I never cared for that era), but the racks, deals, compelling storylines, and interest in the product in itself is light years ahead of any era of wrestling (thus why most promotion emulate such an era). The decline came 2001 when the competition died (WCW). Even then, the product was hot but slowly fizzled down the decade, including the WOAT years in the 2010s.

Right now, WWE is thriving with Triple H holding it down, but on the real its a slow grind to get back to the place of 98-2000s energy.

In your opinion what would you put the start date of the Attitude Era and the end date for it?? Good post @The Intergalactic Koala :wow:

The league let these goofs like Jimmy Buckets, Kawhi, Harden, PG, etc hold them hostage too long. Dudes actin like divas and not gettin shyt done (outside Kawhi) when it matters. They helped plant the seeds of entitlement in these younger generations. These nkkas wanna get paid, hardly play, barely practice, and trick on smuts and cac women in their free time. :mjlol:

Then stars are never playin cuz they're always "injured". :duck: Hopefully the league sticks it to these entitled fakkits in the next CBA. And don't get it twisted...I love the league and always been for the players, but these new nkkas are destroying the integrity of the game, and aiding in running the league into the ground, so GTFOH. Sum gotta give.

All this. And I’ll take it a step further and say a lot of it started with LeBron. The fact that he never did a slam dunk contest is a shame. shyt used to be one of the biggest sporting events of the year when actual superstars participated. It’s gradually gone downhill from there. Now we got bums like Mac McClung winning two years in a row

The dying talk is social media/media hyperbole but this definitely isn't going to be remembered as a golden era for the league.

It's not dying but it is down. I used never miss a game on TV, like 10 years ago.

I haven't watched a single game this year. Normally I would start catching the games beginning in December.

Last couple years I haven't tuned in until the playoffs. Probably since covid.

There's too much bytching, flopping, crying for fouls, etc. They just all around seem like hoes to me. After watching the NFL and what they play thru, and the passion they typically bring.

I need to see more defense! More players trying just as hard on defense. I need to see big men in the paint and owning it. Less 3 pointers, except for guards and forwards who are actually good at it.

As a marsupial that used to watch the product from time to time (casual, I know), it really seems like the NBA is so in the mud that even the actual organization knows it's down bad.

From the jokes and puns from sports commentators, the highlight reels with some talking head talking about the defense and "threes", and the rose-tinted glasses of the past, is it just all in the mind of the hive of the internet, or it's spread onto the outside world?

It just feels like the argument with most things nowadays from wrestling to video games, where the past>>>>>>>>>>current, despite the fundamental changes that makes such things accessible (in the NBA's case...a focus on better strategy involving the paint and defense, ala threes).

Could somebody, preferably a main sports head human make sense of such madness :dwillhuh:

Hoop stans using the same argument like denial WWE stans in 2019 just because Vince Mchmahon and them did a billion dollar deals with these networks its a win.. If anything them securing them billion dollar streaming deals is gonna make the product decline even more because they feel they have no reason to change it.

Most wrestling heads would go 98 but 96/97 was wild slept with the back drop for the beginning of the era:

  • Real ass Stone Cold
  • Hitman being GOAT
  • The formation of DC
  • Nation of Domination coming into itself
  • Rocky Johnson turning the People's GOAT
  • The real ECW evasión
So many moments that had the marsupial locked in despite being a WCW Stan.
