I don't know if this answers the question, but didn't the newcast state the attackers possibly mistaked him for a Congolese student who they fought with earlier........which doesn't help the situation...but maybe it was less about race, and more about simple retribution...........

Humans can be cruel..................................regardless of race.....that goes without saying though....

...and to the person that says, why would a black African go to India, when you have no connections.....thats like asking why are Chinese students coming to American universities, when appear to have no connection.....c'mon son, you can't be serious..........do you know how many Indians are in East Africa making money as shopkeepers and so forth...........homeboy is an ambassador for Africans whether he liked it or not......cultural exchange can be a beautiful thing, but sometimes as this shows it become a firestorm too...

Riiight and all the people living there just magically appeared in 1947......:stopitslime:
The government is the entity keeping shyt from exploding out of proportion. I can tell you from experience that people in India will riot over the stupidest shyt (I remember when they rioted over Raj Kumar of all people being kidnapped), and tension has been far worse over the course of history than it is now.

The divisions are deep; I remember when I first went to Mumbai that several shopkeepers refused to deal with me since I was too dark. If you're from Kerela/Karnataka/Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh, you'll have to be prepared for regional bias.

You're probably right that calling it the worlds most functional multicultural society is probably a stretch. But it is absolutely the world's OLDEST multicultural society.....and the fact that its been that way (multicultural) for at least 3,000 years says something to the strength of the country.

This is an isolated incident and people unfortunately get killed all over the world. I know this because I personally know people of dark skin studying in India, like someone said earlier they offer cheaper living cost, tuition and good education. I don't believe any "African" is immigrating to India for a better job opportunity or to marry Indian women, they have their own interest and India has it's own. It's a win-win situation.

The cast system is alot more complicated to outsiders like us, however cruel it may appear there's nothing we can do about it and I don't see it going away, ever.

The caste system has nothing to do with religion first of all
It came after vedic books

The caste system was a failed attempt at an organized economic structure
Where depending on your last name you did this or that job

Furthermore the caste system today is only enforced in villages in India not in city areas
Only villages with little education and most villagers are illiterate
Not city areas
