The remaster of a cult favourite 2010 PS3 game has topped the UK retail charts this week.
Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 tops the charts, knocking FIFA 21 down to No.2. The last Nier game that was released came in March 2017 in the form of the acclaimed Nier Automata. This remake sold 50% fewer copies than Automata.
“89% of sales were on PS4 and 11% on Xbox One. Digital sales are not included.”
This is also interesting for the fact that there was a 70/30 split on sales with “Yakuza Like a Dragon” that had next gen exclusivity in the states on xbox. The majority of people bought it on the PS4, rather than the xbox one, series s and series x. That is a pretty big split.
This begs the question...are xbox players who are waiting for every multiplatform game to come to gamepass actually hurting sales? If you think a game will come to gamepass in the next 6 months why spend money on it?
It’s at a point where a lot of multiplatform publishers are gonna say, if microsoft ain’t giving us the gamepass surplus why even continue to make games for it? I see the next automata going the route of other AAA square enix games and being a timed exclusive again since it seems xbox players aren’t gonna put the cash upfront anyway
