Japanese avatars are white ppl because they really want to be white

Why would they be black?
The big eyes come from old western cartoons which got adopted in Astro Boy. With Astro Boy being such a big hit, others copied it.

They just respect and admire different cultures. I don't think it has any other nefarious motive.

They took from the Europeans in the 1800s and became a world power that conquering a large part of the Eastern Hemisphere. Taking culture from others has definitely worked for them.

Eh... that's kinda true, at times.

But when they want to make someone who's western or clearly white, its extremely obvious - not subtle. They get pretty blatant with it.
