Not Dr. Dre, and not NWA directly but indirectly yeah. Once NWA blew, and the white kids in the suburbs had their minds blown, record labels wanted to sign mostly "gangster" artists which caused a monumental shift in the types of acts there were in hip hop. Pre NWA phenomenon there was variety in mainstream hip hop. Afterwards, the East coast came up with their own versions of NWA and the music was never the same.
