He’s only had 2 years of pure dominance, strictly as a RB his peak is definitely comparable to Peterson. shyt he’s the only guy since AD since 06 to have B2B rushing titles. If he can have at least 2 more years after this of 1200+ with a similar impact on his team the conversation will be very interesting .. especially in this almost disgustingly Pass Happy era we’re in , it’s mad impressive but dude needs to have at least 10,000 rushing yards to be considered as one of the greatest.
To be that size (
) his Vision and speed coming out the backfield is up there with who I’ve ever seen but we’ve seen hella RBs over the years have crazy 3 year runs from guys like Priest Holmes who aren’t all timers, so I need like 3 more years of him being that nikka to seriously put him in that all time convo.
Couple things here:
•there are guys who are generally accepted as Top 10 GOATs who didn't produce at an All-Time dominant level for too long---->exhibit A, Marcus Allen, who really only had about four dominant seasons in a 16-year career. If Henry continues can match Allen's 4-year run + Allen's postseason success, he puts himself in Top 10 conversation...
Henry already halfway there, but to be clear, Allen is one of those very bottom Top 10 guys so while having a career comparable to his would be great, the bar should be set higher...
•totally agree Henry's peak is on par with any GOAT. There's a general accepted consensus of Top 10 that looks like some variation of this:
Brown, Payton, Barry, dikkerson, Emmitt, LT, Faulk, AD, Allen, Campbell
Henry so far has led The League in rushing twice--->Allen and Payton were rushing champs just once; Faulk never led The League in rushing; LT was a rushing champ twice...
Going b2b as a rushing champ puts him in the class of Brown, Campbell, ED, Emmitt, Barry, LT, all of whom went b2b at least once...
Henry leading The League in rushing TDs twice---->Campbell, Allen, AD, did it twice; Faulk, ED, Barry, Payton did it just once....going b2b on leading in TDs rushing is something only Brown, Emmitt and LT accomplished...
Only ED, Barry, and AD had a 2000 yard season...
So his peak just going off the main accomplishments is Top 6 amongst this group in every category...
•10,000 yards locks him in for The Hall if he has at least two more peak years like this, but again consider Campbell who really only had 5 elite seasons. Henry's two year peak, 2019-2020, compares identically to Campbell's two year peak of 1979-1980: Per 16 of 351-1841-17 compared to Campbell's 382-1874-17 while touching the ball more in the pass game, fumbling less, and having a higher ypc...
My point being, while 10,000 yards almost airmails his induction to The Hall, Campbell made it with less than 10,000 because his peak was so GOAT. Henry is producing at Peak Campbell levels, if he comes just short of 10,000 yards but has a few more Campbell-esque seasons, he'll get in because the peak was so insanely high!
