I wouldn't say its cowardice. I recall that he said back in the late 1990s-early 2000s that he wouldn't run because of his wife.
And any future bid is shot to hell because Dems would not support him because of his going before the UN to argue the Bush administrations case for war in Iraq and the Repubs would never support him because of his endorsing Obama.

Thank you. I don't know how anyone can disrespect a Four Star General. He made a tough decison he thought was right. As for him not running, it is unfortunate but family comes first. Him and Dr. Rice as running mates would win any election 70/30. Only other political duo who could match that star power would be a Clinton(male or female), Obama combo.

So he was not a coward by not going to Bush or telling the American people that he was given false info when then CIA director Tenet called Powell to tell him the claims about mobile bioweapons labs were apparently not true????

I've had discussions with people who feel this way; most of them really militant in their black pride. Their reasoning being that Obama's father being Kenyan means that he does not have the same historical ties to black suffering that American blacks have as part of their shared experience; he was not raised by black people instead being raised by white people; he was not raised in or around black people having been brought up in Hawaii and Indonesia.
Their argument goes that his skin color may be the same but he has no clue about what it means to be a black man in America.
