Its a classic. And its better than scarface. But Scarface is good too. Just because one is better than the other doesnt make the other bad.

Dunno about classic but I really like it. Penn and Pacino are great in it, and the camera work is great. Yea it's over the top...but so is a lot of De Palma's stuff

It is better than Scarface imo as well.

It's gritty, its cruel, had a better plot, and it's real. That's life; decisions, triumphs, and regrets.

It's a personal classic to me it's not up there with goodfellas and casino but it's solide and the prequel is dope too

the prequal was ass.

but Carlito's Way is a classic most definitely. The Benny Blanco form the Bronx shyt was some real shyt.

He has a point. I've had Scarface fans say that Carlito's Way was the smarter movie.

But to answer your question yes it is a classic.

Carlito's Way doesn't glorify criminal underworld like Scarface does.

I agree with the last sentence. And I agree it's a smarter movie. But you look at impact on culture (though it's negative), quotables, and one of the most memorible endings in drug dealing films. The American dream achieved for a minority (though I don't agree with the way he did it).

why are people comparing it to Goodfellas and The Godfather? :what:

Because they are all considered gangster movies and feature organized crime. None of them are really alike but touch on the same ideals.

The Mecca of HipHop
Carlito's Way was well scripted. A personal classic to me. I still consider Scarface my favorite since I can watch it over and over saying line for line and how it impacted HipHop Culture.
