Is Carlito's Way considered a classic (don't fry me)

This is not a troll thread. Serious question. Finally watched this on Encore. Pacino, Penn was dope. I mean I found some parts entertaining. Especially the killings. But is this suppose to be classic status? I can't just put it in classic category. Something was missing.

I agree actually. While scarface is entertaining, it's so over the top that I cant place it up there with godfather 1 and 2, casino, and goodfellas. Lets not forget that scarface was pretty much panned by critics and didnt do as well as expected and is basically a revisionist classic. I will say tho, that I love scarface but I recognize that it's a flawed movie. Carlito's way is a much better written movie in my opinion.

But to answer your question yes it is a classic.

Carlito's Way doesn't glorify criminal underworld like Scarface does.
