not if you live in queens or long island. no train goes straight to brooklyn you gotta go all the way through manhattan.

:shaq2:

Unless you meant a train that stops right at the arena station, there's quite a few trains that run straight from Queens to BK (A & C trains stop somewhat close to Barclays)

The brooklyn nets are like the NY mets except the NY Mets had fans from long island. These hipsters in bk don't really care about basketball, they're more concerned with their IPAs and craft brews and shyt, new vietnamese sandwich spots, some fusion type shyt and what not. Most people still like the knicks way more, the whole brooklyn shyt is a gimmick for now, most people that show up to their games probably not even from NY, let alone brooklyn.

:childplease: The Mets actually have fans all over NYC, they've also actuallywon championships don't compare them to these nikkas from New Jersey .

Come on, brehs. :heh:

Of course the atmosphere is not going to be raucous Brooklyn. Brooklyn is a pretty big and diverse place with emigrants and immigrants constantly coming in and changing the demographics. This arena, like so many sports complexes built in the last few years, was designed for rich folks and to extract as much money as is humanly possible out of said folks. That's why it cost nearly a billion dollars. That's why this new arena showed up and went near the top of the league standings in terms of overall luxury suites.

All you needed to look at were some of the other new places recently built to get a feel of what you were going to get in terms of atmosphere. New Yankee Stadium, CitiField, MetLife Stadium. Sterile money-making machines.

Like I said before and as others have pointed out as well....the "brooklyn" nets represent the "new" brooklyn, not the real brooklyn. Don't get caught up in the hype. The Knicks are still the heart of NY.

:guilty:

There's a banging vietnamese sandwich spot up the street from my job. shyt is good like a muthafukka!!

I need to take this photo of a realtors billboard ad on the corner of Atlantic and Franklin Avenue, right up the street from the once notorious Franklin and Dean Street. It's a picture of a tatted out hipster chick in a bath tub with the number of a realtor underneath.

Says everything you need to know about the new face of the neighborhood. :to:

What sparked this thread? Nets winning 4 games in a row? Nets games attendance averaging 91% already?

45% of Nets season ticket holders are from Brooklyn, 25% are from Manhattan, 12% are from Jersey, and the rest are from the outer boroughs. New York has already embraced this team. It felt good at the end of the Celtics game when Paul Pierce missed both free throws while the crowd was screaming "Brooklyn". It's just the beginning but you can see the support growing. I honestly didn't think the fanbase would grow this fast.

I know a lot of Knicks fans are threatened by another team in New York, but relax, local competition is good. It pushes teams to work harder, and so far it's working out well for both teams. Everyone is in shape, everyone is balling, it's a great time for New York basketball right now. Lets stop the blind hate and just enjoy New York basketball teams finally doing well.

The crowd is ass and timid. Brooklyn heads (the real ones) know it doesn't feel like BK in the building. There's no edge to it.

I don't know the details cuz I haven't checked. But if what ya'll are saying is true then it goes back to what I was saying before the season.

The type of the marketing they were doing for this team is NOT the type of marketing that works for a sports franchise. Being the "coolest" and "Hovest" team in the NBA will sell snapbacks but it won't build a fanbase. Especially when you gotta compete to win basketball fans from one of the most iconic teams in the league..

It's still new. People will cheer but there's really no reason to cheer yet. Its been 6 games and people are still feeling out the team.

Come on guys we know how these things work. Let the nets go deep in the playoffs, next year you'll see a big difference.

And yes it is disgusting what my borough has become. I don't even want to talk about that. :snoop:
