Is Blu-Ray really that much better than DVDs?

a large, high quality hdtv and proper sound equipment will make you never want DVDs ever again.

the problems are bad publishers that do poor transfers, and people that dont know how to hook equipment up and configure the settings on the tv. you should either invest in a screen configuration disc, or hook your tv up to windows media center and use the built in set up thing

if you have a HD tv Blu-Ray is the way to go...on a SD tv its not gonna make a difference...

another bid difference is capacity, Blu-Ray holds A LOT more data especially if its dual-layered. So a TV show season of 14 episodes...TRUTHFULLY can prolly fit on 1 or 2 blu-rays. Its why the blu-ray version of movies and shows always have the trillest special features...they can fit everything on there.

not necessarily, i got the game of thrones season 1 blue ray box set (:ohlawd:) and the 10 episodes are spread out between 5 disc ,its weird tho cause 2 cd's contain 3 episodes each, 1 contains 2 episodes, and 2 contain 1 episode each...i know you can view the animated historys in any of the cd's, cant say much about the commentarys and everything else since i havent really checked them out

Another genius on this topic. Bruh, how many movies you think have been shot in HD cameras? I'll save you the time, about 150 or so. Not even that much unless they really went hard over the last year and a half :hula:

A lot of films haven't been shot in digital compared to film but that doesn't mean you won't get a very noticeable difference from DVD to Blu-Ray

Look at a movie like Lawrence of Arabia (1962). When restoring the image the resolution was 4K :mindblown: so they had to downsize it so it could fit on a blu. The movie looks incredible on blu-ray and blows the DVD out of the water.
Here is an article comparisons of DVD and Bluray

Older films really benefit because you get to finally see them they way they were intended. Watching Jaws on Blu was like watching it for the first time.
Jaws Blu-ray Roy Scheider

You really got to see them in motion to really appreciate them.

Not only picture quality is improved but so is sound. It's like being in the theater, probably better.

You got to be fukking kidding if you dont see a big difference. Yes some movies look very similar to the DVD version, but thats because its probably an older movie that wasnt shot in HD.

Agreed. It's very rare for me not to see a major difference in a movie on dvd and blu-ray. Sometimes it's like night and day.

You may have to take it movie by movie if you already have the DVDs cause for the most part, the movie itself is the same. If you have 500 movies, it's a real investment to go to blu-ray . It's good to get that increased quality with the action movies though.

For new movies, it's probably best to just buy them on blu-ray and get that shyt out of the way. Seems to be hustling backwards if you're buying DVDs if the movie is available on blu-ray.
