You quoting a ghost and this thread is 200 pages long so can I get cliffnotes lol
EDIT: Ok nvm, I logged out and logged back in for context lol. We live in a racist and sexist society
if y’all don’t want to believe that, fine, but my point was that Black spaces tend to be male-centered and woman spaces are white centered so Black women have to figure shyt out in a different way.
Prime example, I do a hidden figures series twice a month highlighting Black women in history and it can be extremely difficult to find women because the Black history sites skew towards men due to sexism and the woman history sites skew towards white girls due to racism. I go on a site for Black pilots and 99% of them will be men, I can go on a site for woman pilots and most likely ALL of them will be white, but Bessie Coleman is a Black woman pilot. Black men can still be centered because of maleness and white girls can still be centered because of whiteness. (Note: I am not comparing Black men to white women in terms of power, so don’t even try it. I’m just making a point.)
I’ve also seen this play out personally as a Black woman with an opinion, i did an experiment once with a Black male YouTuber who is a friend where we made the exact same video, word for word. I was called all types of c*nt, bytch, whore, slut, etc while for the most part even ppl that didn’t agree with him said they respected his right as a man to voice his opinion. That’s misogyny.
Now Black women DO currently outnumber Black men in college as well as in the workplace but that’s moreso because of mass incarceration and the war on drugs that explicitly targets Black men, which is a separate issue and a very serious one (that has also resulted in more woman led households by default). But that separate issue does not somehow mean sexism and misogyny don’t exist.
And questioning whether or not I’m from dc is ridiculous lol why would I lie about that? nikkas in they feelings like bytches
and for the record this vice piece was set to run before the bruno mars situation happened, they interviewed me about my push to support Black owned businesses
I just so happened to go viral around the time it was being published. I don’t even care for vice but I wanted to help the writer out, who’s Black. I talk about it in this video:
Edit #2: And fyi Feminista Jones and the Blavity blacks and all them have me blocked
lol they don’t like me because I refuse to bash Black men. Lumping me in with them is a joke.
