Na dude was just super humble and low key. Zion reminds me of him, where you can tell he's a genuine person.

I remember reading an article on him back in the day and it said how for a dude of his stature, fame and wealth, he lived a super simple life. Didn't live in a mansion, but a regular house. Everything was normal with him. He was just down to earth.

I also remember reading how much of a basketball head he was. He loved basketball. I may have read it on here, but in college, you could find him at 2 places: the library or the basketball court and dude would be beastin, talking madd shyt:pachaha:. The barry i just described was not the same barry on the basketball court. Dude was dunking on folks, talking shyt and challenging everyone. I don't even think he liked going to football practice and would prefer playing basketball. I gotta find that article.

Edit:

Here's the article:
Inside Barry Sanders' record-setting, Heisman-winning (and nap-taking) 1988 season

"During the Heisman season, Sanders remarkably spent almost as much time playing pickup basketball in the Colvin Center as he did playing football.

And while playing hoops, Sanders' personality would become unrecognizable to his teammates, as he would transform into a relentless trash-talker -- most notably after he'd propel his 5-foot-8 frame into an acrobatic dunk.

"That was the one time he would talk s---," Green said. "He never talked like that on the field. There were guys in [football] games talking crap to Barry, 'We're going to shut you down, blah, blah,' and he never said anything.

"We always kid him about it. And he thought he had the baddest basketball game on campus."

:pachaha:

When I think of a superstar, I think of them on the field and off the field. I consider Barry Sanders a GOAT though.

If we're talking about superstars using the term the way you seem to be, then I would say Mike Trout.

Mike Trout and Barry Sanders at least had good signature sneakers. Can't say the same about Duncan's trashposites :scust:

Duncan won 3 rings as a safe, nice guy in the middle of post Jordan era where the NBA was desperate for anybody, white ppl were calling players thugs . and nobody fukked wit him:deadmanny:
I know ill get negged to hell for this...
...but that was a weird generation of players.

If you look at cats before that era, and after...its night and day.

What I mean is...a lot of those cats in the 00's were a lot less well spoken then any other area....
...when I look back at it...it was odd as hell.

Players in the 90's (and before), and today seem a lot more "with it" than those years.

I figured people on here would appreciate Barry even more now that we're stuck in an era where too many people focus on their "brand" and are constantly seeking attention.

Dude was humble and an all-time GOAT. Nothing fake or swaggerless about being at the top of your field and letting your actions speak for you.
