Is Atlanta Traffic That Bad?

SoCal traffic in general. It's going to be hell during the Olympics.

Nah San Diego has the easiest drives you'll find in a major city. Unless it's some construction or a bona-fide accident our traffic is pretty light.

Atlanta is not worse than the DMV, but I think it feels worse overall because it’s way more lanes but still stop and go traffic. Y’all got a whole interstate running through the middle of the city vs DMV having a beltway around the city. And I think there’s a lot more people concentrated in a few specific areas of the DMV whereas ATL is more spaced out so I would think it shouldn’t be as bad as it is.

I’ve made the drive a million times in both places and I hate crossing from VA to MD to DC but on the other hand I get so tired of being stuck on the highway looking at that damn varsity restaurant sign anytime I gotta go somewhere in ATL

Atlanta is literally a major metro area built in the middle of a FOREST. there is pretty much nothing they can do to fix their traffic problem as long as they have millions of ppl.

I disagree lifer in the DMV for four years and have been to going to Atlanta once a year since 05 And lived here for a year, does not compare. Only thing that was truly horrible about DMV traffic is living in Arlington the bridge and driving on BW parkway or 50

BS. You obviously haven't driven to enough areas during rush hour. 495 rush hour traffic particularly leaving MOCO either to VA or PG county has no equal in ATL traffic.

What makes DMV traffic even worse is the fact that The Metro is 1000x better than MARTA is, so there's significantly more people using public transportation in the DMV, but the traffic is still worse.

No. As someone who lived in the DMV for 14 years, The DMV has way worse traffic than ATL.

Bro, my wife from Connecticut. Whenever we go back to her hometown, I get relieved. I see on the GPS it takes 7 min to go 4 miles…


To go from College Park to Hyattsville MD is like 15 min for 3 miles smh. DMV traffic is ridiculous smh

I've driven from Hartsfield Jackson to Downtown in the morning and shyt was no joke .

LA and Houston are worse however. Remember it taking me an hour to drive from Post Oak to The Toyota Center for a Rockets game years back

If I had to rank them in places I've lived:

- Houston (particularly any road you have to take that'll have you going thru downtown)
- ATL (I don't leave the Eastside; my folks have moved out to Marietta, Douglasville, and Smyrna...I stop when I'm leaving)
- Dallas (Landry Hwy or w/e tf it's called; where 30 splits into 35E...then I-20 once you hit by Grand Prairie outlet and 360 nuff said)
