I don't have a problem with Ward's position considering how great of a fighter he is, but at the same time he's missed out on some really good opportunities.

He fukked up not fighting Lucian Bute. Bute at the time had a big buzz at the time (I remember dumb CACadians at the time saying he could beat Ward). Would've been a great opportunity to go to Canada, get good payday and really put his name out there further. He should've been the guy that exposed Bute. But he let his ego get the best of him there and Carl Froch ended up being the one to do it. And it's no surprise that his stock has gone way up since then. And now it looks like Ward is hurting for a Froch rematch (while Froch wants no parts of him).

Ward my man, but he fukked up not getting that Bute fight IMO :yeshrug:

Yup. He let Froch swoop in and steal his glory. Froch was doing worse numbers than Ward in his hometown before the Bute fight. That fight basically molded him into one of the biggest draws in the sport. That had to be the biggest misstep of Ward's career not jumping on that Bute fight immediately.

ever since bute was saved from getting ko'ed by andrade by that ref and his bullshyt i wanted him to lose the belt..but it shouldn't have been to froch...its a shame ward is not interested in unifying at 168 since he's beaten every one of the current champs..and no one wants to see ward-abraham 2 or ward-bika 2

ward fears 175 rite?

And he even competed @ Light Heavyweight in the Olympics/Am's which is 178 lbs.

I think Ward is hesitant about losing the physical/strength advantages he has down there @ 168... I doubt he'd be able to out-muscle, out-maul and out-wrestle them dudes up there @ 175 like he is able to do in his current weight class.

And didn't he say once upon a time that he wanted to eventually fight at Heavyweight? So what's the hold up in moving up in weight?

Nope.

He already beat the Lineal Champion at 175 before Stevenson got to him:umad:

He beat a guy at a weight in which he hadn't campaigned at in over half a decade :shaq2:

Excuse me friend, but wasnt WARD the one who was called at......AT 168

The 28-year-old Ward (25-0, 13 KOs) -- who unified 168-pound titles with an easy decision win against Carl Froch in December to punctuate his dominant run to the Super Six World Boxing Classic championship -- was watching in April as Dawson polished off the great Bernard Hopkins for a decisive decision win in their rematch to reclaim the light heavyweight title.
Afterward, Dawson (31-1, 17 KOs) called out Ward in his postfight television interview, going so far as to say that he was willing to drop from 175 pounds to 168 to challenge Ward

I could've swore Chad Dawson said he wanted to fight Andre Ward and would do it at 168.....not the other way around

Dawson has said he not only could make 168 pounds, but that he wanted to do it.

"I've been wanting to go down to 168 for the past year or two," said Dawson, who did look a bit drawn at Thursday's final news conference. "I make the weight just fine. I came into camp at 180 pounds."

Dawson had many of his early bouts at super middleweight but moved up before he had a chance to fight for a title.

"I feel like now it's time to go down to 168," Dawson said.

He got that ass beat, like every other fighter that SOG has faced since he was 12 years old, and then the excuses came afterwards:ufdup:

Bottomline is Andre Ward beat the Lineal Light Heavyweight Champion of the World before Stevenson was able too and SHOULD'VE been the 168 and 175 Champion at the same damn time...but SOG is a gentleman and let Dawson not even risk his title:mjpls:

i don't know if boxers fear him, but ward will dominate anyone you put in front of him right now. no middleweight comes close to him.

i saw him training at king's boxing gym in oakland once and i like that he was willing to take time out of his training to work with the amateurs and members. that's my bay area boxer :to:

That's great and all...but the "the lineal Light Heavyweight champion" isn't what Ward beat that night... Light Heavyweight is 169-175. And that's not the weight where the fight took place. Dawson being Light Heavyweight champ means very little in regards to their fight because he didn't fight a Light Heavyweight that evening. Dawson no had proven capability at Super Middleweight. I barely even rate that win....you can, but i don't :yeshrug:

Oh, so I take it you also dont count Floyd's victories over Canelo or JMM either right? Or any OTHER catchweights in history or fights where a fighter moved to a different division for 1 fight then right?:mjpls:

Both of those fights took place within the divisional limit. Not a valid comparison.

And he didn't ask JMM to take any weight off... they just fought at the Welterweight limit. And JMM career best win was at Welterweight, while Dawson has no notable wins or even fights at Super Middleweight. Definitely not a valid comparison.

Canelo...it's fair to question if he may have been affected by the weight loss...even though the amount of weight he had to take off was minuscule compared to what Dawson had to lose.

And Dawson was unquestionably affected by the weight loss...No way in hell does Ward punch harder than Tomasz Adamek & Glen Johnson @ Light Heavyweight and he was more hurt by Ward's punches than theirs. And Johnson in particular touched Dawson up alot, yet he was never as hurt in those fights as he was against Ward.

You can't definitively say that Ward beat the best version of Dawson.
