Is a man wearing a durag in public the same as a woman wearing a bonnet?

Above the fray.
Durags were supposed to be used to wave up (at night). At least in my era.

Tacky to wear during the day, and in public.

I'm not sure what my take is on bonnets, because women in my parents' culture and generation wear Mare tèt in public. Not the younger women, though. People from Gulf region of this country might be familiar with what I'm saying, and I would be interested in knowing whether y'all see a difference.

its crazy how petty people are with fashion faux pas. I'm convinced there are people out there who would happily make it against the law for women to wear bonnets in public, if they could
like cacs doing with masks right now.
Wearing a bonnet outside is literally like wearing a shower cap outside. There is no reason for it. Just put on a hat or a cute wrap.

Hell, last time I took my braids down I wrapped my hair like Badu and ran some errands before getting my hair done. It was cute.
