Yes, left and right. But new businesses are opening right behind them. I'm not sure if people aren't thinking it through or what but I can't see this being a good time to open a business...
Most businesses fail in the first couple years. If people paid more attention they'd notice the cycle. You're paying attention right now.

Yeah, furniture, newer restaurants and legacy food chains. Insurance, higher food prices, lack of patrons and rent are draining the restaurants pockets. Read an article the other day that you need seven figures in the bank to safely open a restaurant here in a "good area" (Charleston). Problem is multiple people are fighting over the space the minute they hear a place is in trouble.

Furniture stores are closing too. I think we've had a Conn's here for about 4-5 years and I've never walked into it even though I'm around that area frequently.

yep. silly wasteful cacette dreams are being crushed left and right. cookie shops, pet bakeries, you name it

:blessed:

let them waste their money on goofy shyt:mjlol:

A lot of family dollars:mjlol:
i hate dollar stores and i dont spend money there. they've basically taken over the north side of the city and created massive food supply problems after the grocery store closed. its the only walkable/bus accessible place to get groceries for some folks and i hate it. thankfully the city is trying to reign them in and get them another grocery store.

Do you think these businesses closing due to inflation and are we headed to a recession?:jbhmm:
High taxes and cost to hold the spots. At least here in Louisiana. If you aren't an established franchise you are getting your ass handed to you.

Rent caps would help smaller businesses survive as well but hey.....

Capitalism dictates only the strong survive and these businesses deserved to fail. :sas2:

Yeah, Hardee's, Bojangles, Big Lots, Krispy Kreme, CiCis, Burger King, Dairy Queen, Krystal's, Checkers fail every year (that's in a 5 mile radius). I'm not talking mom and pop shops but even those that have been in my area FOR DECADES are now failing.

Stop repeating what you heard on the internet when you know damn well everything has gone to shyt in this country. "You're just now paying attention"...because I'm blind and don't observe my surroundings every day and cant clearly tell when the world has changed?

If those businesses are failing the consumers are spending their money elsewhere. Look into the new businesses that are taking the place of that spending and no they do not have to align in the same industry sector.
You said it yourself that new businesses are opening up right behind them. That's a cycle...you are paying attention to...Sears closed down and something took its place...same thing. Just because you can't see Amazon's storefront physically doesn't mean it didn't cannibalize some of the profits of other businesses like Sears and lead to their closures.

Rite Aid closed up here in Baltimore…

The Walgreens in Erdman Shopping Center too.

I miss having to get my medication by just walking up the streets. Now I gotta run all the way to Frankford Ave.
