Facts, but it gets more complicated for out of towners who not trying to live away from the nice areas and people with kids. If you have debt added to those expenses as well. People want to ball til they fall while in NYC but you just can't make your money spread here as well as you can other places.

Very true. And if people are running around with large amounts of debt, then they need to move accordingly. And living by yourself in any major city wouldn't be the best of moves.

Newark and East Orange aren't cities I personally would live in. Newark hasn't been cleaned up enough despite the development Downtown and near Irvington. I've been to Newark multiple times for work and I don't feel comfortable living there.

I work by Rockefeller Center. At minimum it takes an hour from Crown Heights not counting for MTA issues.
I wouldn’t live in Newark either lol but it is getting better. They got some nice new neighborhoods in north Newark away from the fukkery. That city is gonna be a different story in like 10 years because of gentrification.

Where is ya job located. What streets? If it was downtown id live in north stat and take ferry. You can roundtrip to work for 5 bucks a day at 45 min a clip.

Midtown and up, jersey.

I say this based on speed to get to work. Even if you lived in brook or queens ya lookin at an hour commute no matter what so jersey is really ya best option based on price/speed or staten island if you work downtown.
Do you live in NYC. It takes 15 mins for me to get into Manhattan and I’m in Queens

nikkas still moving to new york :laff::laff:.

My grandma has been living in Harlem for the last 44 years. My uncles and aunts were born breed and raised there and they swear up and down it's the greatest place ever. But whenever I visit I'm repulsed that ppl willingly live like they do up there.

My advice to you is unless your job offer is only in New York, go somewhere else. 60k in New York is living like a person making 30k in Atlanta (assuming you're talking about NY, NY)

I don’t know why people think Hoboken is cheap. I live in Jersey and everyone I know would love to live there but to spend $2300 per month on rent?? hell no

I'm saying, Hoboken is mad expensive, lotta start ups are moving over there plus the PATH stop is right there, it's like 15 mins to Midtown

Top tier PAWGs over there if you're into that sort of thing :mjpls:

Of course it is. Hell, 50k is. The people who complain about NYC being unlivable for anyone earning less than six figures are those who live outside their means and front on Instagram, passing off an illusion that doesn't match their reality. :francis:

The thing is New York nikkas have a different concept of what livable means. Sure you could make it off 60k but the standard of living will be much lower than using that same salary anywhere else outside of SF

Everyone wants to be a baller, especially black people. I see white people and even others living humbly and comfortably within the trappings of a modest lifestyle. But we want to spend our paycheck at the bar and post pics to the gram. :mjlol:

I don't front for the Gram, go on trips or party. I want a comfortable living space in a neighborhood where I don't have to look over my shoulder at night.

I don't know what white people you know, but the ones that live in Brooklyn with roommates cannot afford to live here. They cycle out of buildings on my block regularly. When one roommate moves out, they can't afford to live there anymore and often break their leases. They drink and eat out every night and party every weekend, but have no money in their pockets to keep a roof over their heads.

The ppl I know living in NY are living a lie. Take the best pictures at Dumbo or the Met, but then you go visit them and they're living in conditions similar to the worst halfway houses in the country. shyt is a joke.
