Just keep in mind you’re paying the LIRR 4-600 monthly for that train into the city.

You can take that 60k to Brooklyn and live very comfortably with a lot less headache getting in and out of the boros.

That's about $3000 a month after taxes. You'll probably need a roommate but I don't know New York rent prices. Probably could go car-less too so that would help.

What are your school loan repayments looking like?

My random guess is that you'll have about $1000 in discretionary money to play with for a month.
