Plenty of people go to jail for shyt they didn't do lol
i think you are missing that point.
Feds don't even try a case unless they think they can win. They were obviously getting some type of info that led them to believe they could convict them..

Didn't help that 50 was running around telling everyone that Preme waa extorting murder inc and protecting them for financial gain.
That’s a myth too…Feds aren’t that masterful…they love that rep tho because it scares people into taking the deal, which is why the % of people who actually go to trial with the Feds is so tiny…that’s the only reason the conviction rate is so high.

Most innocent people who get convicted have something strong enough in the mix to convince jurors they did it…They had nothing at all on Irv and them in regard to what they were coming at them with, they weren’t going to jail unless they took the deal…which is why they didn’t.

And again…they couldn’t have easily settled anything by just giving up Supreme…which in turn would have ruin them in every way on every level. They had to go trial really, no other choice

I honestly don’t understand how nikkas is so mad in this thread :mjlol:

Gotti always delivers fukkery :mjlol:

Are you not entertained?
I feel the same way.. Dude is entertaining while not making stories up.. Sidenote that story Nore got from Alchemist about Large Pro at the Raekwon show is some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard in life lol

Still went up against the feds when most nikkas would've folded.

You gotta give him credit for that. Irv comes across as a good dude, but he is the type to embellish everything he says and does to the nth degree. People like that are entertaining in small doses, but quickly wear people out.

I honestly don’t even get which part made nas think he was doing a smart move to begin with. I would love to know that.. a blind man could see Irv was way too ego driven…

Alliances. Nas was using Irv to get at Jay and Irv was using Nas to get at 50. Both relationships suffered as a consequence.

Wait, what? :heh:

This a true story.

KRS was on the phone with Nas for like 2 hours talking about Hip Hop On Mars and a bunch of other shyt and the call disconnected and KRS tried to call him back but Nas wouldn’t answer. Nas called him back like the next day apologizing and saying the convo got too deep for him to handle lol

Nas actually explained this in an interview with Allhiphop.com when a lot of this was happening in real time

Irv Gotti was the only one to publicly support Nas while he was battling Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella. Remember Nas REALLY felt some sort of way when Hot 97 wouldn’t let him lynch that Jay-Z robot at Summer Jam and after he went crazy on them during the infamous Power 105 interview, the station soft blackballed him. Irv came along at this point and was saying he had Nas back and Ja Rule was saying the same thing. Basically Irv came along at a point where Nas felt he needed allies and Irv said at this point that Ja was too big for the streets but street nikkas worshipped Nas so signing Nas would be a way for Murda Inc to keep their street credibility

After Nas saw that Irv was a fukking clown he cooled on the association and decided not to sign with them and re-up with Columbia.

I wish Allhiphop would have kept they’re archive of interviews, they had some GREAT interviews with Nas, Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, The Bravehearts ( the infamous “Soul Clap” interview) 50 Cent, Cam’ron, etc around 01-03 that shed some real insight onto the time period.

Also Nas references the situation on wax here

IRV is the type of person to be in HIS OWN WAY. This mf did everything right until he started feeling himself. That's basically the downfall of all these "marketing geniuses"/CEOs. They get a lil success, then they elevate that, triple it and they're on top of the world. But when THAT HAPPENS, it's like their brain automatically goes on self destruction mode. (Who knows the psychology behind that where you self destruct at the top but that's a different topic). The f* was he thinking about going to the hood and pulling those shennanigans thinking the streets would respect him for those clown actions?? and what's mind boggling is that you'd give him the benefit of being young, but this mf DOUBLED DOWN and has the audacity of saying "Nas f***ed up and ditched him" :gucci: like breh, do you hear yourself?? You really think all this sh*t was a great idea and would've made you a bigger empire?? that would've been Nas's downfall and the GOD had all the right to deviate from the partnership. Nah breh, that's why Nas is where he's at and you out here taking advantage of your artist's hard work and legacy selling it for 100 mil :camby: I'd be heated if i was Ja, you think 7 figures is what his legacy is worth?? he said it himself, RULE CARRIED the whole TEAM. That's basically HIS SH*T to sell, you over here damn near treating Rule like an employee more than the PARTNER he claimed he was.

Irv comes across as a good guy to me.
He's very loyal in the sense that he expects people to ride for him the same way he rides for them.

That's not the case most times in life (ive learned that well) and that often leads to fall outs with people. He takes any form of betrayal to heart.

Also in his 50 years of life, i dont think anyone has ever put hands on him lol that's how he comes across atleast. And when you mix that with preme, jay-z, dmx etc and other respected street dudes coming to him for help and taking a liking to him, it makes him feel like he's a tough guy when he's probably not.

Irv 100% got very lucky that the case against him was weaker, and he was obviously able to hire a really expensive legal team

That was a Brooklyn Eastern District case, right? They overreached. But it was still lucky.

edit: yeah he hired Gerald Shargel who was one of the real Gotti's lawyers, when he was still good

and it was a really narrow case, it was tied to a bigger more serious indictment of Supreme and his guys

it involved checks and a personal account for 281,000 and the funding of Crime Partners, a terrible movie from 2003 with Ja Rule and Pras, or was that Turn It Up. both bad.

Talks about how he’d be cool with a Muda Inc tour ala Nas and Wu-Tang’s tour but says Ashanti will never do it

Says its true what Prodigy wrote in his book about Cadillac Tah snitching on Irv. Says that Cadillac was a “weak” nikka but he forgives him

Talks about being diabetic and how its affected his life.

Talks a bit about the Ashanti situation and the backlash he received from the last interview. It was mostly jokes this time with Nore clowning Irv and Irv insisting that he’s over her.

Talks about how money makes everything better and how fukked up healthcare is for people who don’t have money

Talks about Big Pun and how charismatic he was. Says he’d take Pun over Big L.

Talks about selling his Masters for 100 Millie and investing it all into movies and a new streaming network.

Says Irv was going to do the Supreme documentary but Nas “Backdoored it” by going straight to Prince. Implies Nas paid Prince 150K for the rights to make the documentary. Irv says he has no hate and that Nas did a good job.

Talks about Dame and Jay and throws little pot shots at Dame. Says that once Jay got put on he didn’t “need” anybody, implying that Jay didn’t need Dame as an artist once they blew up. Says it was all Jay. Jay was picking the beats, Jay was conceptualizing the albums, Jay was doing his own marketing, and Dame was along for the ride.

At 1:46:50 talks about Nas almost signing with Murda Inc. talks about Nas pledging Allegiance on The Pledge, Nore says he didn’t quite get that from the record and Irv says “Hindsight is 20/20”. Irv says that Nas was overwhelmed by Irv’s plans and ran for the hills. Nore references Irv’s meeting with Steve Stoute regarding how to talk to Nas. Steve Stoute told Irv to talk to Nas about Africa and not money and power. Steve told Irv that all Nas wants is “Street cred and a free trip to Africa.” Irv talks about being high on Ecstasy at the Crackhouse (Studio) and telling Nas that him, Ja, and Ashanti should go to the hood in Baltimore in Rolls Royce’s and Nas said “What if we get killed flexing in the hood like that” and Irv says “Then we Martyrs nikka!” Says thats the moment he lost Nas.

Talks about how he’ll probably never settle down with one woman because he can’t trust women. Tells a story about a dime 26 year old Dominican who asked him for $25,000 for school and to open a Spa and he dropped her.

Says Hov ain’t making no music and that last time he spoke to Jay that Jay told him “I gave it all I had”. Says he feels Jay is finished making albums.

Nore asks if Hov congratulated him on the 100 Millie. Says Hov ain’t the type to call somebody to congratulate them.

Says that Muda Inc as a group (Ja, X, Jay) never actually recorded any real songs together. Says X and Ja were with it but Jay wasn’t. Says he tried two times to get the album to happen but in his opinion he doesn’t think Jay wanted to get in a room with X and Ja. Says he did the album with R.Kelly because Kelly worshipped Jay-Z. Mentioned that Jay Electronica and Kanye also worship Jay-Z thats why they got full albums with him. Says X and Ja never worshipped Jay-Z. When that beat come on, Ja and X gonna get at him. Says Jay didn’t want to deal with competition. Says it wasn’t worth it for Jay.

Talks about the infamous battle between Jay and X and that Jay won but there was an asterisk next to it because Jay finished his rhyme and left without giving X a chance to respond. Says that people saying Jay won incenses X

Says X and Ja used to battle together and clean nikkas up

Says if Mic Geronimo would have stayed loyal he would have had a better career. Implies Mic didn’t really want to be a star

It's crazy though, i remember this performance on the MTV Awards, this is where i was CONVINCED that Nas was on the inc. and like about a week later, he pulled the carpet off Gotti and we was all wondering what had happened. Years later after Gotti explained what he was trying to do it all made sense af :russ: great move by Nas to bail while the ship was sinking.

That was a really great performance from all of them.

Nas and Ja could’ve made some dope songs together
