i understand what you mean. you can try to be too nice in a fight and that is just being dishonest. theres no such thing as a nice guy in a fight. i think every fighter you hit rushing in with that right hand deserved to get hit and i think you deserve to get hit even more for throwing it.



yeah thats a good way to counter it. the alternative way to counter a right hand with a left hook is to slip it through the space that you have next to your right ear and over your right shoulder. you can throw a good left hook this way because slipping it through the space that you have next to your right ear and over your right shoulder is the same motion you would make when you throw a right hand which serves two purposes for a left hook. it gets your body to be in a better posture to throw a left hook because of the way it squares your hips and it gets your body weight to go over your front leg. when you get your body weight over your front leg you can throw your left hook with your body weight in it.

slip it through the space that you have next to your right ear and over your right shoulder and throw your left hook as the right hand that you have just slipped is coming back out of your slip space. works really good on a guy that is bringing his right hand back to his chest not his head.

a lot of fighters like to throw a right hand and then a left hook because of the way throwing the right hand can get your body to be in a better posture to throw a left hook and the way that you can use throwing a left hook to reset your body back to your stance and when you are trying to slip a right hand to counter it with a left hook you can inadvertently run into a left hook that way.

when you are trading left hooks you can safely throw your left hook by throwing it as you are circling out to your left away from the left hook you are countering

How do you throw this left hook, with the same velocity, but to follow through and not just 'stick' it to your opponent? Tim throws that punch right and abregu is out

when you punch what you are throwing is your body weight not your hand. when you follow through you are following through with your body weight. you are sending your body weight through what you are punching. transfer your body weight over your left leg and throw it with your left hook. your left hook should be carrying your body weight in it. follow through with your left hook until your body weight is over your right leg. your body weight is going to go through whatever is in its way as you transfer it from leg to leg.
