It takes elements from comic book characters, but it doesn't follow the comic books at all. Not to mention, the writers and directors even said it.

So while it will probably get critical acclaim, simple minded people with try to lump it in with Shazaam, Spiderman, Deadpool or Avengers


The genre is so strong that they will make normal movies and shows, but throw in comicbook elements to sell tickets.

In my pre righteous era if I had bought a movie called Jada Fire,and they showed her dressed like pornstar in the trailer,being seductive. Only for me to pop the movie in the dvd player and I find out its a yoga video,I would be even more pissed. Thats what alot of casual moviegoers will be walking into when they go see this Joker movie,the lotion is ready but there will be no payoff of a Joker who does Joker shyt. Casual fans aren't watching what the directors are saying,but maybe social media will keep them from "eating that",and they will find out its really not a typical comic book movie.

This will be a movie where half the people will be mad there's no Batman and comic universe connections and the other half will appreciate the different take and Joaquins performance. I already know this isn't a "comic book movie" and plan on seeing it maybe because I'm burned out on those films and interested to see if this lives up to the hype.
