They never had any real leverage. BIF always had the votes and would always pass. They tried and fail, but got to save faith with their performative votes. Nothing to fault them on nor be mad about.

:manny:

Biden needs to go ahead and get the CTC and extended and whatever else he can piecemeal and talk about its benefits. :manny:
he's talking about the progressive caucus. They had leverage, they just got punked.

yeah all 5 of them?
fam, why do you talk about politics? You never know what you are talking about. :russ:
The vote tallies on BIF suggests otherwise. In no scenario was BIF going to stay on the shelf.
We making history up again?
Pelosi sets Thursday vote on infrastructure, eyes smaller social spending bill

Like I said before, the progressives got punked, especially Jayapal. They had the votes and she backed down because for some strange reason what happened in Virginia some how impacted their decision.

President Manchin won.

The BIF had already passed in the Senate.

The legislation passed the Senate in August, but was stalled in the House as Democrats tried to negotiate a deal on a separate $1.9 trillion economic package, another key component of Biden's agenda that many Democrats had tied to the fate of the infrastructure bill.

The legislation that passed Friday night will deliver

From your article, from Pelosi:

"Let me just say that we're going to pass the bill this week," she told ABC News' "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos.

They were only holding this up so progressives could show their constituents they were trying, but they never had leverage on stopping a bill that was already passed in the Senate and had the margins in the house.

Asked if she has 218 votes to pass the infrastructure bill without the social spending bill, Pelosi only said "we'll see."

Pelosi said with a smile at one point, "I have the speaker's secret whip count."

Progressives didn't get punked. They just didn't have the votes for the leverage they wanted folks to believe.

You need the house and senate to pass a bill, bud.

Oh okay, that’s how it is.
Progressives didn't get punked. They just didn't have the votes for the leverage they wanted folks to believe.
They go from “hold up the votes to show they are trying,” to “they didn’t have the votes.

This “show they are trying” lasted two months.

Like it’s been said, they got punked. No need to pretend we didn’t see it happen in real time.

I think some of you are conflating the Squad with the progressive caucus.

The Squad didn't have the leverage on their own, but the progressive caucus is supposedly nearly 100 deep. Let another dozen or so join the Squad and they would have easily had enough votes to block BIF.

Pelosi is a part of the progressive caucus. So is Clyburn. No one is conflating shyt.
