I shared a couple articles from Bruening’s site on this topic about how black kids won’t be covered by this. Does it surprise anyone that these people intentionally don’t want to cover everyone in order to say “fiscally responsible :blessed:.”

This should get discussed more but we will be back to the surface level horse face nonsense that everyone loves.

This reply nails it

This don't live in a Red state stuff is dumb because if we all huddled into Blue states we wouldn't have enough Senators to pass shyt.

It's also lowkey racist/classist because there are a lot of folks stranded in Red states that don't just have the ability to pick up and leave. People don't chose where they're born into or where their families are from. Either you have a United States of America or you don't. This "Red State, Blue State" was originally a political cynicism that people are apparently now utilizing unironically, and it's both defeatist and morally bankrupt. And the call for people to just vote their way out of this is particularly callous when Republicans are literally deploying every trick in the book to restrict sympathetic folks from voting. "Just vote your way out of Jim Crow 2.0!"

most black people and minorities for that matter that live in red states, live in blue cities

So moving to a blue state wouldn’t really be much different

Democrats don't think Manchin wants Biden agenda vote by Christmas

I don’t see this bill passing. Manchin is using delay tactics to kill the bill.

I've been saying they'll have to just force him to make his stance explicit since we were debating legislative strategy during the primaries, so it's nice to hear that the Senate Democrats are getting fed up and coming around to that...seemed inevitable that they'd have to force him to pick a side.

From the article:
"I am also aware people are fed up. People are basically saying, 'Look, if this thing goes down, let him vote against it,'" the lawmaker added, explaining that a growing group of Democratic senators want Schumer to put the bill on the floor, schedule a vote on a motion to proceed and force Manchin's hand.

But yeah...I also wouldn't put it past Manchin to vote no and go full heel. I just want him to have to wear it. This should at least be a mask-off moment for the cats holding water for Republicans, because this bill could be the last shot for Dems to enact major change for long time. Gerrymandering's got winning all chambers a lot tougher going forward, the Supreme Court is tryna overturn whatever they feel like, and the Dems need a jolt for polling before the interims.

Republicans, meanwhile, feel confident that Manchin will continue to hold the line on the climate and social spending package until next year, giving them more time to chip away at public support for Biden's agenda.

Senate Republican Conference Committee Chairman John Barrasso (Wyo.) said Thursday that he thinks Manchin will hold up the bill until 2022.

Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) said Democrats also still have a lot of work to do to nail down centrist Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's (D-Ariz.) vote, as well as Manchin's.

"The Dems are kind of going through the stages of grief and I don't think they'll get to the last stage until the end of next week, when they realize that Sinema and Manchin aren't anywhere close nor is the bill ready," Thune said.

The confidence from Republicans is so off-putting.

At this point I'd rather Manchin and Sinema just join the GOP :manny:

It's pretty apparent that the COVID relief was the only thing they're willing to pass, at this point all they're doing is helping the GOP anyway. If they're going to sink the bill let them own it.

Having a 50/50 split with them is of no benefit anymore. I bet if a Supreme Court spot came up they do the same shyt.

They're literally just tanking the party's agenda at this point. Intentionally. For their own benefit. Not only for this term, but for decades to come due to refusing to pass voting reform.

Any Ls the Dems take next year will be in large part be a result of the above.

Dems would probably be better off without them :manny: they're literally dragging the party down
