H1B Visa. They have to work for the company that sponsors the visa or they get sent back home.
They can force them to take less money and work more hours by holding that visa over their heads.
Great science, math and engineering schools. Can get top tier talent for cheaper.

It was years ago and I don't know the technicalities that allowed them to pull it off but I worked at a place that was putting Indians up in hotels. I don't think they were going through the full work visa process, just staying here for however long you can stay on a visit and working. A google search says you can stay for 6 months on a tourist visa. One of the workers told me they were getting paid in lakhs, don't know if they just said that cause that's the currency they exchange to or if they meant they were literally getting Indian level wages while living in the U.S :patrice:

If you ever ride through New Jersey you will be shocked at the amount of Indians in random towns, they filling up all the corporate office parks out there

Same is happening in Raleigh, everywhere I go I see mad Indians. And for some reason they all drive Tesla's with student driver stickers on them.

I've read and heard about it but after joining this new company and seeing it in person this is actually mindblowing.:ohhh:
I'm an SWE at a F500 company and as far as upper management goes in the tech department, so far I have seen maybe one White person, no East Asians, no Hispanics and forget about any Black people. It's a tiny bit more diverse with the people around my level, with a few more White people and East Asians but as far as Black people so far I have only seen me and this other girl.:wow:

And the other crazy thing is these seem to be Indians that were born outside of the US. So they're displacing cacs in the own companies lol. How the hell did Indians come to have such a grip on the tech sphere? :mindblown:

They CAN be cheaper if they're on a H1B visa but even if you pay them the same as an american they are typically not as entitled or have problems with authority like most americans which can make them a dream employee for most middle managers.

"If Hindus migrate to other regions on earth, Indian caste would become a world problem." - Dr. B.R Ambedkar

'Caste discrimination in North America first came to public attention through the technology industry. For instance, the California State Court will hear a case in which a Dalit ex-employee of Cisco claims that he was a victim of caste discrimination by his supervisors who allegedly denied him promotion opportunities and excluded him from meetings (Moreno and Smith, 2022). The claimant also alleges that Cisco retaliated against him for complaining about how he was being treated. The claim was originally filed in 2020. In that same year, Apple added a prohibition of caste discrimination to its conduct policy (Dave, 2022). Earlier in 2023, the city of Seattle, USA, became the first city to outlaw caste discrimination (Singh, 2023a). The public school board in Toronto, Canada, has also recently recognized that caste discrimination operates within the school system and has requested that the Ontario Human Rights Commission create a framework to address the issue (Singh, 2023b). Similar to other academic institutions such as Harvard, the California State University system has added caste as a protected identity across its 23 campuses (Venkatraman, 2022). These examples acknowledge the widespread experience of caste discrimination across communities in the South Asian diaspora.'

If their darkerskin countrymen are relegated to street shyt cleaners and discriminated against purely on skin tone alone. How do you think they're gonna treat our Black assess? There was a thread on Twitter(aint calling that shyt X) where Indians and Chinese bragged about throwing softball tech questions to other Indians, Chinese and whites then throwing almost impossible and unfair questions to their Black applicants. This was over two-three years ago. I will try to dig it up.

They get paid less. At my company there’s a 10% inequity from what one Indian guy told me. Probably worst for cold blooded companies. Plus there’s a little bit of extortion at play with H1B visas since you have a short period of time to find a new job before you get kicked out of the country.

Honestly the US needs to get its act together in terms of training more IT graduates.

I wrote about the coworker as dark as me who uses white skin tone emojis. Latinos and Indians have the same kind of anti-dark skin prejudice.

yep, not surprised though. You look for a tutorial on youtube back in the day on how to do something on windows/java etc it was always an Indian explaining it.
Man it's hard to deal with those accents after a couple of hours :mjlol:

I see the same thing in my company in terms of Indians displacing a lot of other workers. I'm thankful that there's quite a few black folks I work with.

It's cheaper to hire a whole bunch of people in Pune or Hyderabad than it is to hire a handful of people here

This right here. They don't even need to bring them over here to Canada now. Just have a team over there double the size and still cheaper for them.

A lot of those layoffs in the gaming industry earlier this year a ton of testing QV/ data analyst type jobs got totally wiped out.

A few of the big games companies have replaced their in house/ in country testing teams with teams of Indians in Hyderabad.

My friend has to manage some of them and says they are mostly terrible. No understanding of the game they are testing on even after months on it. And because it's a more competitive environment they can't help each other to solve problems like in other IT jobs.

Same in my company to, some are based in here and US but most are in Hyderabad putting 12 hour shifts daily working for TCS, but somehow don't know eachother. They've senior positions but in corporate company who doesn't but they're mostly just implementers and approvers that don't hold much power.
