This is a very nasty secret in our communities. My wife is an admistrator but when she was a teacher it was scary how many preteen/teenage girls were molested/raped by uncles, cousins, stepdads, dads. It's a dirty game and this has happened to boys too. I think sometimes when we feel a collective powerlessness we take it out on those closest to us. Sex as a weapon of fear, or using our family members as objects of desire when there is nothing else out there.

I will say this, watch your young daughters around their hormonal older cousins. Whether they mean it as molestation or not, sometimes younger female relatives are the subject of sexual experimentation when the boy can't experiment with girls his own age. You can take heed to that or not. It's your choice (they are your children).

If black men have similar experiences with older relatives then they should speak on it because it's not something I can speak to.

Omg yes!!! I'm so afraid for the young girls in my life. Be that they are my cousin's daughters or my sister's friends who have daughters. This world is plain twisted.... I don't know what I would do if any of those girls got I the situation. It tears me up to think about such things.

I definitely feel like this issue is one reason why kids in the hood are so sexualized at earlier ages. In addition to, or as a result of such things become normalized. Sex is "cute", having a girlfriend/boyfriend is "cute". People encourage kids to kiss each other, which leads to other things. The boundary between child and adult get fainter and fainter.

You see vids of kids twerking and grinding on each other, young girls dressed as adults and families in the background cheering them on. It's a mess.

I was just thinking the same thing. These young children often know far too much about sex far too early in life.

Kinda OT but there was a scene on Antoine Fisher that just reminds me of how all these boys are losing their virginity early and these female teachers having sex with students. I don't think male victims of sexual abuse get enough attention. Especially black boys.

Sexual abuse is just something most people don't like to talk about. We know it goes on but it's ignored unless it happens to someone close to you.

What can we do to stop or prevent it?

My exact thoughts. it's saddening that happens more than its known to be... Children are victims no matter if they are male or female. They are preyed after because they are innocent a& are not fully aware of what is happening is wrong. The person molseting them may paint what is going to be something non sexual to make light of it...

It happens to often , my uncle did the same raped his wofes daughters for years tho the wife who had no skills or no means she stayed with him and ended up throwing them out . One overdosed and the other turned to prostitution at 13

3 years later my mom and I moved into her then boyfriends house, which we stayed for about 2 years. He had a daughter a year older than me and we had a stupid amounts of unsupervised time together. Sometimes I look back at the shyt she initiated and some of the things she wanted me to do to/with her and wonder where the fukk she learned them from

It took me damn near 30 mins to decide if I should post this or not.. I can only imagine what it must be like for females that have been molested/raped to come forward.. a mind that young is definitely not ready for anything pertaining to sex.. it can have some really long lasting negative effects on someone.. add the fact that this shyt is swept under the rug for the sake of protecting the perpetrators/family shame, the fact that we tend to overlook mental well being in the black community and you end up with some really messed up teenage girls... girls who can't/wont come forward so they cant/wont get the psychological help they need... some never even leave that environment; some even end up raising kids in that type of environment leading to a vicious cycle.. shyt's all types of fukked up.

yeah, its weird how people make light of little boys being sexually abused. i wish more would come forward because you dont really hear a lot of men talk about things like this happening to them or how its affected them. when they do come forward they're usually bragging about it and making it seem like they enjoyed it, which isnt the case for most young men. your second situation is a little different because you were both kids, sometimes kids touch eachother our of curiosity or she could've been getting sexually abused as well. girls are usually painted as sexual victims because we have to deal with it all of our lives while men just deal with it when they are little boys. being weaker/smaller puts you more at risk for these kind of things, but yeah thanks for sharing your story.
