Where kind of neighbourhood do you live in?

Cause the field close to my house has them little leaguers goin hard like they tryna make the big leagues every day. ( the minor league team works with them).

Them little dudes can knock the ball damn near out the park already.

It's mostly Asian/Black middle class neighbourhood.

I don't see anyone playing on the fields where I am except for the weekends in the summer, when you might see church leagues playing 1-2 games there.

So much to blame it's hard to pinpoint one thing

1. Black Fathers not around

2. Baseball move to slow for the kids

3. no type of little leagues in the black community

4. Drugs and the peer pressure to fit in.in the neighborhood

5. ESPN and there showing 24 hours coverage of lebron and tom brady.

6. high schools in the black community eliminated baseball because of funds

there's a whole of reasons..

if i ever had a son, my boy playing baseball, because he can play 20 years or more compared to 4 or 5 in b-ball or football

So you're saying black kids aren't playing baseball cause of what they show on ESPN? :dahell:

When did ESPN start making career decisions for the youth? :whoa:

The problem with saying "racism" is that it implies that black folks have no choice or no ability to decide what we wanna do. Like we love baseball but the white man stopped mowing the grass for a month so nikkas all of a sudden started playing basketball.

Tyson and Ali are 2 of the biggest icons in sports but where are the black heavyweights? Its levels to this shyt, "racism" is always present but its not the only answer out there...

i know there's no guarantee your kid makes it to NFL or NBA, but do you want your kid stuck in the minors

not saying your kid might not be good, but saying you're gonna push them to play over these other sports is kinda crazy

even if your kid is stuck in the majors he's making okay money. if you make it to triple a you're make about 6 figures. and if you can't hack it in the mlb there's always that japan or korean money if you wana play overseas

Breh it literally has nothing to do with field upkeep. Right now the next Alex Rodriguez is playing in the alley in an impoverished Cuban city with no shoes on, a broomstick and rocks.

What's the reason black kids don't play soccer? Lack of quality fields? :aicmon:

Right now a kid in Cameroon has dreams of representing his country in the 2020 Olympics.

Has nothing to do with having money to upkeep with talent. You mean to tell me Lebron couldn't play center field? Lol 6"8 250 couldn't be a DH? What about Victor Cruz at SS, stealing bases, etc. The talent is there. The culture isn't.
actually you couldn't be more wrong. those kids are coming from Third World poverty and if they don't make it in sports, then there really aren't that many opportunities for them to get themselves and their families out of poverty. We as blacks may be behind but sports aren't our only ways of making it out of poverty. Get what you're saying but really bad comparison. Now compare the upkeep of a basketball court to a soccer/baseball field? Now add equipment? Now add travel? Plus MLB scouts aren't going into black neighborhoods like they are Latin countries. And they can't lowball a kid from the hood (actually they can) but not to the extent they can a kid from Guatemala or Peru

you must not be black and havent grew up in a single parent household

in OUR community television plays a huge part of what kids base what they want to be.

Again the culture just isn't there. If you ask the average black kid about baseball you will get :pacspit: and :scusthov: all day. And sports are unfortunately seen as a way out of poverty for many of black youth. All the negroes in basketball and football could easily be playing baseball. Baseball is literally the easiest sport to play out of all 3.

YOU DON'T NEED HIGH DOLLAR EQUIPMENT TO PLAY BASEBALL!! You don't even need 9 people on the field. "Ghost-Man is on 3rd" :birdman:...It's a cultural thing and this current culture doesn't respect the sport. .

You guys are trying to make Baseball out like Golf or Hockey or Yacht racing when it's not. It's not equestrian, it's not cycling. It's cultural breh. Outside of the costs of soccer you won't see many African Americans attempting to play.

Same reasons why there are no African American distance runners. Most are running the 100, 400 or 800m..Never the 3000,5k or 10k..Culture breh.

I'm black and I've had both my parents. But I won't let TV, ESPECIALLY ESPN :scusthov: dictate which sport I should play.

I realize that some kids may look up to certain people as heroes but you have to be able to pick things on your own. I like Barry Bonds, but I'm not playing baseball cause I viewed him as a hero.

LOL@ being unable to sit around for 9 innings. I know it tends to be a boring game but it sounds like that ADHD thing is rampant among our culture.

Rather them in the minors making a decent earning for 5 years with a degree and contacts than a washed up college football player with bad knees, zero money to pay for those medical expenses having to return back to their Alma mater at 29 to complete their degree in Sports Management :aicmon:..

High IQ
Played it when I was younger, stopped playing before high school.Reason I stopped was because alot of black parents took their child out of little league "My child is on the bench that coach must be racist" :mindblown: .It was hard for me at the time to see why all my friends weren't playing baseball.Eventually it wasnt fun anymore,I never played High School ball but from what players from my high school told me,they were burned out and not having fun.You guys can say what you want but notice how much fun these young cats in the little league world series have.I dont know why there is a decline.Have to say football&basketball :manny:
