how can you believe an organization like the NBA would just create such a serious change to their post season format on a whim to accommodate the New Orleans Pelicans? :dead:
You mean an organization that has a premium on players over teams and was looking at a rookie who was being hyped at the next LeBron?

My point is the Nuggets aren’t good enough to be playing deep in the playoffs to showcase Jokic, and Jokic isn’t as marketable as the other guys for him to be the face of the league, as good as he is.
While I think it's fair to question the ability of the Nuggets and where they fit in the contenders picture, any team can make a deep playoff run. I don't even think they need to go deep into the playoffs to showcase Jokic. He's trending in the direction of three-straight MVPs, so that's enough to be in the conversation of 'the face of the NBA'.

Luka's more likely to be the guy as the representative of the NBA, and he's on a worse team.

I hate to break it to you, but they were working on that play in format for years. How do you think decisions like that work?

I can’t argue that point :manny:

And Luka’s personality makes him more marketable to the NBA, Jokic is straight business no extras.

They work based on a number of factors. Zion was one of them.

When did you first hear of the idea of an NBA play-in tournament?
I know Silver has been plotting on play in tourneys and a mid season tournament for years, the post season one got accelerated and green lit because of Covid. I seriously doubt they factored in Zion Williamson into the conversation. The people that believe that also think they rig the draft lottery tho
