EVERY HOOD HAS AN O DOG. HE SEEMS LIKE YOUR AVERAGE YOUTH DISCONNECTED FROM EMOTIONS. HE SEEMS A LOT LIKE CHIEF KEEF.
O dog was supposed to be a stereotype of what a young black man was. That is why his character was so over the top.
I mean in 2018 you got some crazy people out here saying scarface is overrated. cmon man, nobody could speak such blasphemy back in the 80s/90s, it's insane.
Yep... and the movie Menace 2 Society is overrated. Boys N the Hood was a better film.
The movie Menace to Society was a little too cartoonish... it was way too extra. You can tell that the filmmakers of Menace 2 Society watched Boyz N the Hood and was like... "We making a movie way harder than Boy N the Hood... it's going to be some real hood shyt".
When the Hughes brothers made Menace 2 Society they were clearly trying to outdo Boyz N the Hood... and they FAILED.
People dismiss thug portrayals as one-dimensionalIf you thought this in real time back in the day then you would have a point.
Dude was convincing. Nobody was thinking otherwise in real time.
This "in retrospect" point of view doesn't count.
People dismiss thug portrayals as one-dimensional
However, mafia performances get constant praise, regardless of who plays the part.
If you ever met a gang banging 15 y/o in the 90s from Soutch Central who didnt give a shyt about life and thought he had no future..the character Larenz was emulatingYou wouldnt think he was overacting.
I agree. I watched some of those interviews from that Streetgangs channel on YouTube, and some of those current LA gangbangers still act a lot like O’Dog.If you ever met a gang banging 15 y/o in the 90s from Soutch Central who didnt give a shyt about life and thought he had no future..the character Larenz was emulating
