Idk bro it really depends on where you live some places a Black Person would be ready to throw hands on their behalf if you press a Latino for saying nikka.

I remember a latino dude from either Jersey or Ny was bragging about that fact.

Black Self-Sufficiency

THIS THREAD SHOULD HAVE
ATLEAST 800 POSTS RIGHT NOW.

:jbhmm: WHY IS TRL AVOIDING THIS THREAD?

Well it is hard for some to actually come out and say anything when they are true believers for team Blue. These are Democrats speaking in these racist tones, threatening a Black child, insulting the Black child. Also the outright self-interest in their dealings behind close doors, where they essentially say F-Black people is a hard pill for team Blue adherents to swallow.

Normally, all of this would be hidden from people and they could use plausible deniability to get around the issue. We now get a peak behind the mask, again I might add, of the inherent anti-Blackness of our nominal non-Black (This case the Brown contingent) Democratic allies. So yea, those who would be here in a second to defend tooth and claw their precious political party, will probably be very subdued about this exposal and hope it goes away.

I've seen this same sort of thing happen over and over again, and that is why I strongly feel we need to have an us first mentality for our people's issues. We uplift all of these other people (hell that woman got her start through the aid of a Black political leader) to only have them work against us once they are in positions of power. That is not to say we should not work with other groups at all, but when we do work with them we should always have primary in our mind what we are trying to get out of the cooperation we are giving to them.

We should always have our own goals, and those goals need to be more than just making sure the overt (conservative) racist does not gain power. As has been seen by us over and over again, every other group is out for self.

LA City Council president resigns after she was caught on tape calling the Black son of a fellow Democratic politician a 'monkey'

The president of Los Angeles City Council resigned on Monday after leaked audio revealed that she made racist remarks about a fellow Democratic politician's Black son.
Martinez came under heavy criticism after the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday that she made racist comments behind closed doors about Councilman Mike Bonin's son.
In a conversation with other local officials, Martinez described Bonin's son, who is Black, as a "monkey."
The conversation, which was taped and remained private for a while, sparked outrage and calls for Martinez to resign on Sunday, according to the report.
"I take responsibility for what I said and there are no excuses for those comments. I'm so sorry," Nury Martinez said on Monday in a statement obtained by local news station KTLA. "I sincerely apologize to the people I hurt with my words."
However, her statement said she was resigning as president of the council. It's unclear if she's stepping down from her elected position as a city counselor.
Martinez, a 49-year-old Democrat, became the City Council president in 2019 after previously serving as a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education.
This story is developing. Please check back for updates.

That's a good start and I'm glad it happened quickly, but by itself it's not enough. She shouldn't be trusted in politics again. Sorry it has to be that way but that's perma-disqualifying.

And at the very least the other one who made some of those comments should resign too. I really think all four should resign for even being there and not pushing back, but the two who made the comments are a minimum.

Edit: Actually, it looks like Herrera did resign too, so that's good news. But Nury is apparently only stepping down from the role of City Council President but is only taking a "leave of absense" from the city council? That's some performative bullshyt. Pressure needs to stay on until she goes.

I don't believe them stats:manny:

Edit: to clarify, I don't believe stats based on opinions

And I definitely don't believe the average person is altruistic, no matter the race, and is concerned about other groups at the expense of theirs

I don't think most Black folk have those opinions because they care about Brown folk more than Black. Most Black folk don't think it's at their expense or has any negative effect on their families. They'd rather stand up against white people's racist bullshyt than believe right-wing narratives about immigration.

Coli militants notwithstanding, the average Black person on the street thinks the wall is a lot of scary-ass bullshyt by racist white people.

It's interesting that you believe having more latinos helps white people and hurts black people. Because if right-wing white people believed that, wouldn't they be pro-immigration? Wouldn't they want to increase their own diminishing ranks and hurt Black folk in the process? Yet virtually all of them are the opposite. So either the vast majority of white and black folk both are right about it, and just have different goals....or you and the tiny % of right-wing black folk are the only ones who are right about the impacts of immigration, and it's just a coincidence that the only people who agree with you are astroturfed groups that were created by white supremacist John Tanton specifically to influence Black folk for white supremacist aims.

Has anyone noticed she has yet to apologize to the black community?

Do you even care? It's not like I'd think it was sincere if she did apologize, she'd only be doing it cause she got caught. She should never be in a position again where her apology should have to matter. Leave the apologies for those who have a reason to seek forgiveness/redemption.
