Rose averaged 25 and almost 8 assists at a time when it was rare (since Jordan, only Iverson, Wade and Bron had done that), so he had the stats.Bron. Go ahead and "destroy my argument"
It was a narrative MVP. The Bulls finishing first and Bron going to Miami (the narrative was set before the season that he was "sacrificing" individual accolades for team success). Doesn't hold up to scrutiny when you realize the reason the Bulls were an elite regular season team was because they were transcendent defensively, which had more to do with Thibs and even Noah than D-Rose. This was further proven the next season, when they were STILL the number 1 seed with Rose out for most of the year. Bron was better statistically across the board than Rose, and was much more efficient, the much more impactful defender, etc. You could make a strong case that Rose wasn't a top 5 player in the league in his MVP year. Bron, Kobe, Dwight and Dirk were definitely better. KD and Wade probably were too.Rose averaged 25 and almost 8 assists at a time when it was rare (since Jordan, only Iverson, Wade and Bron had done that), so he had the stats.
Bulls had the best record in the NBA when no one expected that jump (they were an 8th seed the previous season)
Rose played with zero all stars that year. The Bulls big FA acquisition was Boozer who missed the first 20 games or so. Then Noah missed a bulk of the middle of the season. Rose was the entire offense and was the reason the team was able to close out games.
LeBron joined a team with two other perennial all stars from his own draft class, one of which was putting up similar stats as him. Bosh was the third option and averaged more than the #2 scorer on the Bulls.
Bulls swept Miami in the regular season
LeBron’s numbers were down from his MVP seasons the two years prior
Giannis deserved one of those if we're being honest, Bucks had the number 1 seed one of those years if I remember correctly. Numbers similar to his other MVP season as well.I think Joker deserved the MVP that Embiid won. However, Embiid should’ve won the year Joker won his first MVP. Philly had the best record.
The last 4 MVPs should’ve been:
Shai (30, 5 and 6 with 2 steals and 53.5% from the field as a guard…1st in the west leading a bunch of young players)
Jokic (24.5, 11.8, 9.8…1st in the west)
Luka (28, 9 and 9…4th in west with Porzingas missing most of the season. Jokic won as a 6th seed)
Embiid (28 and 11…best record in the East)
Right now, Jokic is the clear leader as of right now.
It was the year Embiid won his. He, Embiid and Joker were top three that year. You're right that Giannis had a claim, but at the same time, Joker averaging almost a triple double and leading them to the top seed in the West is crazy as well.Giannis deserved one of those if we're being honest, Bucks had the number 1 seed one of those years if I remember correctly. So they were on track to be a 55-win team without him...It was the year Embiid won his. He, Embiid and Joker were top three that year. You're right that Giannis had a claim, but at the same time, Joker averaging almost a triple double and leading them to the top seed in the West is crazy as well.
Check the Bulls record with Rose vs their record without him and get back to me.
Actually I'll do the math for you:
Bulls with Rose were 32-7 (.865)
Bulls without Rose were 18-9 (.667)
Yeah, that's exactly the same
Less games played, yet they lost more.
Interesting you feel they would've sustained that and went on to win 55 games even though after Rose got hurt, they never came close in the following seasons. Let's stick with that though. Do the math and tell me what's 86.5% of 82 games. Don't worry, I'll tell you. With Rose, they were on pace to win 71 games by YOUR logicSo they were on track to be a 55-win team without him...
I know what 86.5% of 82 is. The point is a team winning 55 games without its MVP usually means that person probably won over somebody more deserving.Interesting you feel they would've sustained that and went on to win 55 games even though after Rose got hurt, they never came close in the following seasons. YOU’RE the one that projected they’d win 55 games. We saw how they ACTUALLY did the following two seasons without Rose. 45 and 48 wins.I know what 86.5% of 82 is. The point is a team winning 55 games without its MVP usually means that person probably won over somebody more deserving.
A hypothetical 16-game difference generally isn't enough.
