TNA-KENNY KING-ROH UPDATE | PWInsider.comDon't expect Kenny King back in Ring of Honor anytime soon.
The word making the way around the wrestlers is that King was supposed to sign an extension of several months while negotiating a new ROH deal, but instead after saying he would verbally do so, went and worked TNA instead.
While the wrestlers I spoke with tonight noted that they understand that King has a daughter and needs to make money for his family so they are happy he got the shot with TNA, the flip side of that coin is that King left the promotion and his partner Rhett Titus in a bad position by exiting without dropping the belts.
PWInsider.com has requested comment from ROH regarding the situation as well as the status of their Tag Team belts. If and when we receive something, we'll update.

The appearance of ROH wrestler Kenny King on another television wrestling program tonight has raised speculation on his future as well as how this appearance could occur.
The contract Kenny King signed in June 2011 expired 11 days ago. Before that expiration, an agreement was reached between Kenny and ROH management for an extension of that contract, with a provision to allow him to negotiate with any other promotions so that he could evaluate his options and any potential interest in him elsewhere. When that short extension concluded he would then be free to accept an offer elsewhere, or sign another long term contract with ROH. Under this agreement, Kenny was free to negotiate but not to wrestle for another organization without ROH's permission.
When Kenny was presented with the written extension reflecting this verbal and handshake agreement, he informed ROH he was unsure if other promotions would accept the negotiation clause. He was told he could take the document to be examined by his attorney or other interested parties before executing it to be reassured any other offers would not be viewed as contract tampering. He also informed ROH that he would keep us apprised of any developments.
He contacted ROH on Tuesday July 3 to inform us that he had a meeting in Orlando on Thursday, July 5, which was within the scope of the agreement he had made. Then, early morning on July 5, he contacted an ROH official to say he would be wrestling on the Orlando event that night. He was told he did not have permission to appear live on television as it violated the agreement that had been made. His response was that the deal he had shaken hands on and agreed to in principle "seemed fair at the time", but "others" had told him it was not, so he did not intend to honor it.
Ring of Honor is disappointed that Kenny has chosen to make this decision, after the company had agreed to and followed through on everything he had asked for at the time of our negotiation. However, we consider this breach of his verbal agreement unacceptable, and regardless of his future employment status with any other wrestling company, ROH will not be doing business with Kenny King going forward.
A statement from ROH will be forthcoming regarding the future of the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Co-holder Rhett Titus remains on the active ROH roster.
Kenny Ozz How can you, as ROH, hate on a guy for trying to better himself? Arent you the guys pushing a CM Punk dvd, CAPITOLIZING on a guy who left to greener pastures? Seems like sour grapes on ROH to me. Grow up.

Scott Whitt How do you put the belt on a guy that is not under contract? Echoing what others have mentioned, would be nice if TNA and indy's had relationships. Guys from ROH and Chikara get some TV exposure and TNA gets fresh talent for these occasions.
Andrew Ortega why would you put the tag team titles on a wrestler NOT under contract. thats bad business right there.
Aaron Lyskawa I think Kenny King is a great talent and for so long now ROH has really held him back, it wasnt until recently that they got behind him by giving him the tag title with Rhett Titus. As an independent wrestling promotion I really don't know how ROH can expect a wrestler who is not under a "contract" to be loyal to them. Kenny King did what he saw best to further his future in professional wrestling. He has seen men like Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas be GIVEN the tag titles and pushes for months due to them having a "name", while he has put in years of dedication and loyalty to this promotion and has received little in return. I loved ROH for years but feel since the Sinclair deal got signed they have take a huge step backwards. I wish nothing but the best to Kenny King and hope TNA signs him, he is a great talent and would be a huge asset to their promotion. Sadly for ROH i feel this is the first of many talented performers leaving a promotion they once felt as loyal to as the former ECW wrestler felt to their brand. Good Luck Kenny, I'm rooting for you!

---Kenneth Coker With nothing signed extension wise, it appears ROH is out in the cold here.. Maybe Joseph Park or David Otunga can represent you in that matter. Anybody know what Clarence Mason is doing these days? He's an old pal of Jim Cornete's.
Chris Iannacone Feels like the old days huh? When guys would jump n shyt

I don't know breh, when Aries first got resigned he said he was making good money. I don't know why people think TNA guys get paid peanuts.(yeah I know the Taylor Wilde sunglass hut story/Jesse Neal foodstamp story) but if that were the case AJ, Storm, Roode, Joe, etc would have been left years ago. They just get paid per appearance so if TNA decides not to use you for months on end, that's when it might start looking bad.He wouldn't be making that much more in TNA than ROH. It can't be a money thing. We are talking hundreds of dollars here lol.

Regulars like the above are all pretty much, ing.
Nah I wasn't talking about the Austin Starr run, I'm talking now. I know it's not like the WWE's pay...but what is. In pro wrestling I mean.Nah breh, I had many wrestler friends who worked for TNA. They ain't getting paid shyt. Aries is probably making good money NOW because he is booked all the time, he has shirts, etc..(like $150,000-$200,000 a year). Aries last run in TNA as the Austin Starr, he was making shyt, and one of the reasons why he and Roddy left.
Aj/Storm/Roode/Joe all get over that obviously, but it's nothing like WWE pay.
To be honest I have no idea how much ROH pay is, but I will say it's probably like $150 to 200 a show. Kenny will probably get $300 a show in TNA if they sign him. That's why I am saying, not a huge difference.
How naive of ROH to trust a stripper.
Austin Aries Now how about the real story of how ROH does business? I haven't forgotten...
