I’m not gonna lie I’m digging some of these lesser known/smaller games that initially draw BOTW comparisons...the pathless has been the most captivating game I’ve played so far on the PS5...the type of game where you go to sleep strategizing how you’re gonna approach an objective and wake up excited to try it...had my eye on this but with reservations...glad to hear the positive feedback tho...sounds like it’s gonna be my next pickup

dunno if I’ll like the humorous approach they take...quite often in video games the humor misses its mark with me when they try to make the dialogue “funny”...granted uncharted 4 was a “recent” exception

So is this game broken on ps5, because thats a pretty huge difference of scores between them.

Ps5 is 75 and xbox is 82 with the same number of reviews.

I noticed a drastic difference in the overall score for NBA 2k21 for user reviews...way higher for XSX than it is for PS5

ya I think that’s the safest stance with ubisoft games...I thought this was a $30 game...I definitely would not pay full price for this

That's facts, I just bought the Odyssey Gold Edition last wk on sale. I'm interested in this, but they only get a wk outta me before it gets put down for a solid min. I'd rather cop that Gold Edition on the cheap once I see all the expansions, or at least one of em to see where they're taking it.

it doesn't make sense to use metacrtiic cause they just post the highest score the game receives which defeats the purpose of an aggregate. The game could play exactly the same on all consoles and scored widely different, like we saw with assassins creed and NBA2k.

Opencritic is the must accurate. Also all the big gaming outlets are giving it 7's so this seems the most accurate.

the only thing I don’t like is sometimes there are valid reasons for higher/lower scores on platforms...and opencritic doesn’t seem to take that into consideration...case in point in another thread...dude and I was talking about the outer worlds for the switch which scored significantly lower...the assumption is it wasn’t a good port

also funny how so many people on coli shyt on BoTW but all these copy cat game designers have come out of the woodwork in the last 3 years not even trying to hide the fact that they are doing it.

yeah, Thats why its weird. There are cases where games don't perform better on a certain console also yet rate higher. Bugsnax for example, rated a 74 on ps5 and a 79 on ps4. I looked into it at the time and absolutely no one made mention that the ps5 version had any problems, but the PS5 version runs it at a higher resolution, with no load times and a ton of other features so it's objectively better. Yet the scores don't reflect that.

you have to take into consideration too for critic ratings you’ll get more accurate reviews for the PS4/XB1 and have to be patient for more reviews to drop in for the XSX and especially the PS5...case in point the XSX had both critic and user reviews for AC valhalla pretty early on around the release date...meanwhile the PS5 not had user reviews (which mirror the XSX user reviews) but literally just posted critic reviews for the same game a few days ago...as more critic reviews pour in for the PS5 for immortals the more likely it will be on par with the XSX critic reviews

the problems come into play when you see a huge discrepancy between user reviews even tho the critic reviews are close...in those instances it’s usually fanboy shyt

the bugsnax discrepancy for the critic reviews’ score isn’t that far apart for “alarm” imo...also it’s different reviewers too so the scores are not gonna align perfectly

i honestly don't even care about user reviews anymore. I have a handful of youtubers that typically have the same taste in games that I do that I will look to see what they say about it. Otherwise you got people shilling, or like you said just on fan boy shyt and review bombing or giving a game 10's.

If there was a way to confirm purchase of a game than I'd take user reviews seriously again.

I still pay attention to it...it’s undoubtedly a very good sign (or an extremely bad one) if critic AND user reviews are in-tune across platforms

This is getting better reviews than Valhalla

I'm trying to wrap up Valhalla before Cyberpunk because I know that will take most if not all of my attention. I'll prob pick this up sometime next year.

Really? The feedback I am getting is that the game is at best ok and at worst just a terrible knock off.
