I was done with Stevens as a coach, I don't care about him in that role. I give credit to Udoka for turning the defense around for sure. Tatum/Brown's growth was only stunted by Kyrie and Hayward's presence. We were saying it then. They were already showing flashes at age 20 and 19 respectively going head to head with LeBron. Let's not forget that. They were on their way.

Offensively, the Celtics were still a nightmare at times last year. I'm pointing out that Udoka was up 2-1 in the Finals are squandered it. That doesn't mean I want Brad back :dead:

Teams lose in the Finals, still not getting your point lol. Crazy how if a Rookie coach's negative slight is that "he lost in the Finals", is kind of a testament to how great of a coach he is. Thanks for proving my point :manny:

Are we still in the "Let's not blame Jayson Tatum for this Finals loss" phase? I mean, we can ignore that if you want lol

You say Mazzulla is a terrible coach and I agree. Nevertheless, they won 56 games and are favored in round 2. Seems like it has a lot to do with the players too.

So are you intentionally ignoring the state of the Celtics July 2021?

Seems like you are

Way easier to win 56 games on the back of a Team that just went through a turnaround on the back of an NBA Final appearance

They actually won 56 games very differently. The defense wasn't nearly as good this year but the offense to start the year was way better. The team doesn't play the same way they played under Udoka at all. I don't see how Mazzulla inherited the spirit of Udoka when they don't play that way.

It was huge that he didn't pursue legal matters against the Celtics. I wondered if that was seen as a positive with owners collectively.

- Celtics' switching defense was inherited from Ime
- Celtics' double-big lineup with Horford and Timelord, with Timelord being the roamer/free safety was inherited from Ime
- Jayson and Jayson playing more of a playmaker role was inherited from Ime
- Marcus Smart being the primary ballhandler was inherited from Ime

Come on breh :dead: :dead: :dead:

What legal matters did he have to pursue

-The Horford/Timelord lineup has been a liability at times this year
-Tatum was already developing those skills before Udoka
-Smart is now sharing the ballhandler duties with White and Brogdon

I don't know what else we can discuss here. You believe Udoka is the perfect head coach and that's fine, that's your opinion, but in the Finals I saw a lot of the same bad habits show up at the worst possible time.

I think he's become overrated but probably a good hire. Not sure his hard-nosed coaching works with you guys players? We will see.

Did you watch the games?
Yea.

1. Tatum wasn’t ready
2. Derrick White was still new and no Malcom Brogdon, so marcus smart was their 3rd guy. You’re not winning with Marcus smart as your 3rd guy.

Those are experience issues, roster issues. Not coaching.

This year, smart is their 5th leading scorer. If Boston wins this year it will not mean Mazula is a better coach, it will mean Tatum and brown are better, the roster is better…and/or it could simply a mean whoever they beat isn’t as good as last year’s GS team. People are too reactionary to blame coaching
