I’ve always said that and that’s not being biased

Even on paper Nas blows AZ ( no homo ) lyrics out the water. Nas literally paints a picture with his rhymes.

I woke up early on my born day, I'm twenty, it's a blessing
The essence of adolescence leaves my body, now I'm fresh and
My physical frame is celebrated cause I made it
One quarter through life some Godly-like thing created
Got rhymes three hundred sixty five days annual plus some
Load up the mic and bust one, cuss while I puffs from
My skull cause it's pain in my brain, vein, money maintain
Don't go against the grain, simple and plain
When I was young, at this I used to do my thing hard
Robbing foreigners, take their wallets, their jewels
And rip their green cards
Dipped to the projects flashing my quick cash and
Got my first piece of ass smoking blunts with hash
Now it's all about cash in abundance
nikkas I used to run with is rich or doing years in the hundreds
I switched my motto; instead of saying "fukk tomorrow"
That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto
Once I stood on the block, loose cracks produce stacks
I cooked up and cut small pieces to get my loot back
Time is Illmatic, keep static like wool fabric
Pack a 4-matic that crack your whole cabbage

nikka WHAT???? That verse is insane.
It was dope. But AZ verse was timeless.
This reminds me of the renegade situation.
Jay verse was AMAZING. But the way Em got down was nasty. Same with AZ.
That "visualizing the realism of life and actuality, fukk who the baddest a persons status deponds on salary
And my mentality, is money motivated
Im destined to live the dream for all my nikkas who didnt make it!" Just too hard to follow.

"Buck that bought the bottle could struck the lotto"
Always bothered me.
Its the perfect example of my issue with nas
He be fake deep a lot.
Why would you not drink but instead gamble? Like he is making some deep change.

I prefer the Nas verse but AZ's verse was hard

My one critique is that AZ's flow was too aggressive for the track & Nas flow was effortless

Also. AZ was son of G Rap on this shyt for real. nikkas need to start having a serious discussion on G Rap. He deserves damn near every bit of props Ra gets respectfully.

Kool G Rap has been in my Top 3 Greatest Rapper of all time list the past 10-15 years

I'd argue he has had a greater impact on the 90s Rappers than Rakim did. Kool G Rap literally birthed so many rappers in terms of style, rhyme patterns, subject matter, etc

I agree, but, AZ got the world buzzin' and a record deal offa verse on somebody else album.

This here.

Both verses were dope, but I always felt like A got Nas on this one. When this dropped, whole game was going crazy trying to figure out who AZ was. Labels were stalking dude after this. He bodied this joint.

The irony of this post is that you're trying to create a "fake deep" narrative out of thin air to diss the line

Ironically, it's not THAT deep, it's actually a straightforward line. He's basically saying "Instead of drinking the pain away and feeling sorry for myself. I can buy a lotto ticket". "Lotto" being a euphemism for positive thinking which can lead to making more money in the future

This post actually says more about ur lack of comprehension than it does the line in itself. It’s literally explaining instead of feeling sorry for urself and drinking away the pain u can think in a more positive light and have hope for the future.
