The lines be generic and corny and show no understanding of sets, the history of the gangs or what it is they do.
It's like all people know is that one wears red and one wears blue and the notion that they are gangs.
I'm talking about everyone from tip to ross to 50 to Nas to Eminem to Jay. They don't understand the slang, the hand signals, truces, like anything whatsoever.
These gangs aren't as unified as people think...especially set to set. They aren't that well organized. Not everyone even knows each other or about one another in the same set. People snitch, break rules and let in all type of people.
It's almost like the hip hop fascination with the Italian mafia or scarface or something. I want to say LA artists know better than to make cheap ass stupid references but the absolute nerds and squares like Kendrick Lamar and Ras Kass be having cringe ass lines as well.
Being a crip or blood does not really provide money, an adequate substitute for a real family, power or even protection. It does not mean you dress in chuck taylors, flannels, and khakis. Your own people may not even have your back...your own people may kill you. A lot of gangsters don't even listen to or respect hip hop and rappers like that to begin with. A lot of these people are cowards.
