Let's face it, the only way Leo will ever win an Oscar, is if he puts on a dress
Did Cuaron get Best Director because of the space agenda?
I watched this last night and at first I completely agreed with the OP. At the end, I was like "you didn't do anything for this entire movie." but as I let it digest I realized that it was a very subtle performance. I might have been expected something more over the top and that is why I was initially dismissive. I would call Leto's performance my favorite but it was actually pretty damn amazing. The part with his dad...wow. I really had to let the movie sink in first, though. I didn't see all of the movies but I liked Jonah.
Yeah, that scene was really great. I watched it twice, the first time, I was like why this nikka not crying?, but then I realized he has come to accept his disease and was probably preparing for it for a long time.
Jared did his thing, but I was really surprised that this nikka didn't get nominated, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0117709/?ref_=tt_cl_t2
He sounded and looked exactly like Nikki Lauda. I thought he did a really good job in Rush.
I'm actually just now starting to watch all of the nominees but I'll have to give this one a try. I still haven't even seen "12 Years a Slave" yet. It's hard for me to judge but I think I've seen maybe half of them so far. I think that this was a pretty good year for the category (however, I have only seen Wolf, Her, and DBC so far). Just looking at the trailer for "Rush", though...I think I just found out what I'm doing with my afternoon.
