It was bad. And the title song is just absolutely horrible. I fukkin hated the album when it dropped, and still do.

Even the songs I liked then, like Poppin Tags, and Hovy Baby, I'm not listening to AT ALL. Oddly, only excuse me miss aged well. 02 Bonnie and Clyde...imagine driving to that right now :mjlol:
I hear that in a lot of commercials now a days, like a series of commercials, can't remember who.

Most of BP2 didn't age horribly, a lot of it was wack from the jump. There are some gems, but you have to unearth them from beneath the trash. I don't even see it as trendy. Jay got some throwaway beats from producers who were fatigued in 2002 who had classics with other artists that same year, some of them that same month. Jay had production from Timbaland, but there were classic Timbo beats on the Missy, Ms. Jade, and Justin Timberlake albums that dropped within weeks of BP2. Jay got beats from The Neptunes, but they had better beats on the JT album, and the LL Cool J albums that dropped within weeks of BP2. No need to compare their production on BP2 with what they gave the Clipse that summer. Kanye gave better beats to Talib Kweli's Quality, which again dropped within weeks of BP2. Not even gonna compare the classic work on The Fix to BP2. Jay's best song from that year with Just Blaze wasn't even a Jay song, it was Freeway's single "What We Do".

It's Jay in full transition mode part Blueprint 1/Part Black album/Par Kingdom Come

he was too far from the hustle, and too new in the corporate world. Using the newer flow and newer content. it's less outright wack than it is like a big budget movie with a great cast and director, but doesn't quite work. It's like a a bad James Bond movie, ironically. Big part of my childhood in 2002. Saw him in concert in September 2002, saw him do the A Dream acapella live. Remember the experience of seeing Beyonce, and seeing Goldmember in theaters, before they were really dating.

A Dream has a fire beat
Guns & Roses Me to my mom: mom whose Salvatore Ferragamo?!

the story I posted last year:

My funny/bittersweet childhood story about this album:

The anticipation was so high for this, coming off The Blueprint, I saw Jay on tour, I saw him perform the A Dream live in September 2002, it had the whole game holding it's breath, leaked songs, Hot 97 premieres, it was incredible.

I got in A LOT of trouble as a teenager, I was kicked out young from my house, and did everything you hear about, hustling, smoking blunts, mom found my stash, money and drugs. I did it all. So, one night in early November 2002, I ended up getting too drunk and my homies couldn't find me, because I wasn't answering my phone, so I ended up getting caught, staggering home drunk, throwing up, my Mom had to take care of me, really embarrassing, really bad scene for a single parent.

When I woke up the next morning, I knew I was in trouble, and the first thing I thought of, in my selfish, myopic adolescent insolence, when I started coming out of my fog was

At least the Blueprint 2 is dropping next week

BP 2 condensed could have been really dope. I mean 8 songs. Just Blaze and more M.O.P but he was really bored and just going through the motions by this time.
