First of, she's talking about a culture that some hip-hop inspired, not the concept of hip-hop itself- a bunch of white boys and girls in wealthy suburban areas who are doing all the things rappers pretend to be able to afford. Second, she's right. Most mainstream hip-hop is materialistic garbage. Her song is about the opposite of that. I'm not going to cosign the song, but the message > most of hip-hop right now.
