Breh let's keep it 100. In 1998 nobody have a shyt about comic book movies in general let alone obscure marvel characters.

Even when x men dropped in 2000 it was a risk because nobody knew how it would be received. Up until that point the only super hero movies people knew about were the og superman and Batman movies and those were campy. So you can't fault Sony for not wanting to cop Thor or iron man. Keep in mind they were a few years out of bankruptcy trying to sell the very assets that shown not to be profitable in the first place.

Yeah, it's just some rear view mirror vision. The avengers (outside of hulk), were c-list; and if sony bought them they would've sat on the shelf or been daredevil status if films were released.
