Cena draws more of a reaction than ALL of them. Whether it's positive or negative depends upon the city.
I agree, I think this is a pretty good place for him to be right now. I do understand the fear though that this won't actually help someone though.-His open challenges every week guarantee at least one good match for Raw.
-He stays out of the main event and helps elevate a midcard title
-Gives a chance for midcard wrestlers to get some shine (even when they don't win)
That springboard Stunner has to go though.

Smarks Last Year - Push Cena to the midcard so he won't ruin the upcoming main eventers.
Smarks This Year - Cena's in the midcard. He's just going to go over everyone.
Yep, all those super over heels in the midcard. Only heels getting heat on that roster besides Sexy Seth (sometimes) are Kane (when he speaks) and Big Show. Really think about that. They need Cena in the midcard, desperately.
Once Rollins won the WWE title it made the whole giving Cena & Bryan the midcard belts pointless
If Brock was still champ & they were main eventing shows with the US & IC belts it might build them up. Right now it's basically something to keep Cena & Bryan out of the picture while they build Seth & Roman more. The Cena open challenge gimmick just makes it worse because he's going over the midcard & nobody is going to gain anything from it, especially when he's going to work somebody not involved with it on PPV.
My biggest problem with this is that he's obviously going to hold the title for a while, and thus bury every wrestler that 'challenges' him. Hell, two matches in he's already kicked out of like six finishers. Maybe after Extreme Rules they're actually going to use it to build someone else, but I really doubt it.
This, Cena's a 15x world champ it doesnt make sense for him to start a challenge and lose it right awayIf someone puts on a good showing against Cena that's a good rub regardless. Cena shaking Ambrose's hand and acknowledging his performance in the match kayfabe wise was a way of getting put over, you don't need a win to be put over
