Naw no heel turn I always thought this way about Short it's 2023 time for me to admit it that's why I said it's low key blasphemous I knew the response I was going to get. No the Pawg threads are definitely trolling.
Too Short is a guy that is respected. Hiphop is fun with him around, that’s it. Everybody don’t have to sound the same or have super complex rhymes

Why does everyone keep bringing up Complex rhymes I never said a word about that Layzie Bone for example is not a complex rhymer but he ain't ABC is easy as 123 ass nikka either.

Just excuse after excuse for Weak rhyming period.

The only 80s rapper to ever really blow me away was Big Daddy Kane. Like he is pretty much king to me. Most of the rappers in the 80s weren't bringing crazy heat it's just revisionism and rose tinted glasses. Or people obsess over them not cursing. :russ:

But if one of today's rappers is great lyrically and 50 of them suck? The 50 become the face of the genre. I don't discuss music with many people as a result. It's polarizing on a generational level. Plenty of trash rappers back then just like now. Say that in company it's a shouting match all of a sudden.

I really dig that Big Sub Woofer joint by Mt Westmore.

It was very nice to have 4 different classic styles together. Short's part is better to me than Snoop's. Snoops bars were "better" but somehow it wasnt as funky.

Everybody love the funk when it stomping in the trunk. You in the backseat wishing you was in the front. She said something asking if I heard. But bytch I can't hear one motherfukcing word.

Beyotch!!

E40 was the best, but I am partial to Cubes verse. (Heard this youngin. Screaming like a woman. Talking bout they comin. nikka we ain't running)

Anyway.. It's great to have all different kinds of styles and Short has patented his and he holds his own.

But are most people listening to most rappers from the 80s to be blown away or are they listening to have a good time?

You can play most records from the 80s at events and you can party to them.

Same with Short. Nobody is trying to be blown away lol nikkas trying to party and just listen to how it really is no filter.

There’s this disconnect in rap lol don’t know when it happened but not everybody is meant to be great lyricist but some are great song makers, song are great at party records, some are great at being real and simple lol

Short is great in his lane for what it is

It's not blasphemous, there's definitely some truth to what you're saying, but these days as the elders are getting older and passing away a a faster rate, it's just kind of disrespectful. He might not be a lyrical pioneer, but he is when it comes to live instrumentation and business acumen. You gotta understand that the dude has been around since '83, and came up listening to funk records along as well as Richard Pryor and Blowfish vinyls. Just like Grandmaster flash gave us one of the greatest socially conscious verses of all times using a crude flow, Short also leaves behind a great catalog of them as well if one is to go deeper than just his booty rhymes (no pun intended).

This new generation really does need to be giving him his propers instead of tearing him down for likes.

It's not what you say, it's how you say it, and I still run this track back occasionally, but can't say the same for any K-Rino songs lol
