Yes, OP is blatantly lying here.
Nope. Look at the Senate and House votes yourself. Dems voted for this, Reps voted against. Al Gore, the Vice President, a Democrat, was the tie-breaking winning vote.

This is the kind of legislation the Democrats choose to pass when they have the power to pass what they want. Protecting Roe v. Wade in 2009 when Obama had enough votes to do so? Nope.

I wonder who this lady affiliated with,

I read her bio and apparently she ran for the senate seat because she didn’t fukk with Clarence Thomas and won while having less money

I surprised people don’t talk about this lady more, she also ran for mayor of chicago but lost, I wonder if she would’ve done a better job than lightfoot or rahm

I thought this was about raising awareness, but it's just another 'don't vote' thread from you I see.

Republicans didn't vote against this particular program because they opposed it, they voted against the Omnibus bill as a whole, because it hiked taxes on top earners. Still, Democrats could have rejected the GAO's recommendation to make the program mandatory. It's a good thing that there are people within the party *today* trying to get legislation passed to stop this practice at least.

What do you think people should do?

And how's that going over with Dem party leadership? :russ:

I think they should vote for Dr. Cornel West instead of throwing their vote away on Joe Biden.:umad:

Oh, okay. You're still a joke character.
You're young and idealistic. I understand. Someday you will grow up and realize Joe Biden is never going to give you a pony. Cornel West is electable. And he has political capital. Just vote for him and then later you can push him in whichever direction you want, which is apparently rightward.

Eh, unless your really young (Gen Z or younger) and you don't follow politics, everyone knows who Carol Mosely Braun is. She was a very big deal being the first black democratic senator in the country. In Illinois, Obama came after her as the second.

Unfortunately, there were rumors of corruption and campaign mismanagement that followed her so I don't think anyone in Chicago would've been receptive to her running for mayor. It's pretty much why she's kept a low profile after her term in the Senate.

What's surprising to me is that this isn't the type of legislation that I would've thought a black senator from Illinois would get behind. I guess when you're the first (see Obama) you can't really rock the boat.

I was born in 95, and i don’t necessarily follow politics but I would’ve thought her name would’ve came up more often considering the fact that she was the first black female senator

Respectfully, I answered your question. I said people should vote. How does the Democratic party feel about that, I wonder? Let's take a look.

Barnes also says the ballot initiative would unlawfully require the city to spend money implementing ranked choice voting (ballot initiatives can’t force the city to spend any money), and would additionally violate the city’s Human Rights Act because it would discriminate against Black and low-income voters who could be confused by ranked choice voting.

An attorney for the Democratic Party says they believe black voters are too dumb to understand how to vote. Comment? :unimpressed:

You're barking up the wrong tree here, dude. I feel the same way you feel about it. The leadership in some of these state parties only seem to care about preserving their own position, instead of doing what's right, and that's detrimental to the people they're supposed to be representing. They need to go.

I'll give your first post a real response too:

I'm old. And I'm not idealistic. We're never going to get that perfect thing, but we could get better than what we have representing us across congress. As far as presidential elections? I'm not voting for a 3rd party, especially living in Michigan. I think it's idealism on your end plus naivety that's driving a belief that Cornel West is capable of what you're claiming. I wish he was, but we don't live in that reality. He'll even tell you that. After all, he has admitted he is only running to raise awareness for the causes he supports and not because he thinks he could win.
