Anyone else feel the same way? I know some of you notice my recent lack of activity in here. I have talked about it in several threads before, but just a feeling I haven't been able to shake off in a while. I was looking at my desktop...shyt is in a corner in my bedroom disconnected and I have absolutely no desire to dust it off, hook it up and play any game I want on it.

Android, iOS, Mac OS X, Windows 8, Linux, Game consoles, tablets, video games, and damn near everything else is  status to me these days too. I am semi interested to see what the new wave of smart televisions are about to hit, but it better not be some incremental update...I need next level :whoo: type of advancement to move me.

I am a little jealous for those with Windows Phone 8 devices like the Lumia 920, but I have a feeling that if I buy one I might just get bored with that too.

When does Breaking Bad come back on?

what meme am i?

So you're bored with consumer technology. It happens. What you should do is try to make some of your own ish, it can be fun. Download Ubuntu and create your own kernel. You won't get bored doing that. Or start writing android or IOS apps.

how does he have that tv tuner card thing hooked up? thats through a htpc right? not a regular laptop or pc

All you need from your television provider is a cablecard instead of the digital cable box, tell them to take that shyt back and save yourself 10-15 bucks a month.

Then you just have to get the cablecard to your pc. If you are building an htpc/or have a desktop tower pc you can get an internal card:

- Newegg.com - Ceton InfiniTV 4 Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface
- Buy.com - Ceton InfiniTV 4 TV Tuner - Functions: TV Tuning, Video Recording, Video Streaming - PCI Express x1

If you need an external one through usb you could try these:
- Newegg.com - Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB: ...on the PC, USB 2.0 Interface 5102-DCT04EX-USB
- Newegg.com - Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 Dual Tuner Digital CableCARD Receiver
- Ebay.com - ATI (P/N: 100-703268) TV WONDER USB DIGITAL CABLE TUNER NEW

The only negative i've heard from people are that the cable companies are very bad at giving you support and/or helping in setting up your media center.

so this thread inspired me to start ripping my dvd collection , something which i try to do couple of weeks ago but couldn't find a free program that did it in a simple manner, after much googling ( related to starting a htpc using the drobo) came across a program called MakeMKV that shyt is piff file formats are kind of big so i then use handbrake to reduce file size ( took a 4 gig rip down to 700mb)

Going to hopefully cop me a 1TB drive this holiday to store them all on

Next step is save to buy/setup a unraid storage solution , them startin building a HTPC

I don't even have a smartphone or HDTV. I don't even care though.

Too much stuff out there, I'd like to know about it but sometimes I think people would live a better life just ignoring all that :yeshrug:

Tech is boring, becuss your Phone is becoming as powerful as computers and nothing groundbreaking has ocurred. Graphic wise we been pushing the envelope, Polygon count, High Defintion, Nothing is really new anymore just upgraded like a new phone every Month. Window Apps boring becus basicly nothing is new, The web has did everything The coding is all the same for apps just changed a lil, from Android to OS. We are at a recycled peroid

I never really got into it.

I had the original Iphone, shyt got water logged and broke....I was fukking FURIOUS when I found out that they didn't cover that in the warranty. Took everything I had not to have a "ghetto moment" in the Apple store....:russ:

That pretty much killed my enthusiasm for all this shyt, never looked back. I haven't had a smart phone since. And never got into any of the ipad/nexus/kindle stuff either.

Not to say that I'm some 80 year old luddite, for as many of these things that come out, every time I have ever borrowed anyone elses, or needed to use one for some reason, I've felt that they are all pretty much the same with only minor differences. I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. Not the type that wants to play a five minute game on a bus ride or watch tv on my phone or anything like that.

I'll jump back into this stuff when the google computer glasses kick off...I'ma try to stay ahead of the curve on that stuff (If it's not too expensive to do so).

LG Octane....:manny: But I'll be dropping Verizon and switching to tracfone when my contract ends in August.

Wasn't hard to go back to a dumb phone at all. Like I said, I really wasn't one to need to fukk around with apps/games all the time anyways. Browsing the net on these things sucks compared to a computer (Which I take with me anyways).

I like browsing on my phone more than anything else these days. I like being able to shut it and put it right back in my pocket

Well if you are bored, then buying the newest gadget isn't gonna cure that. They all basically do the same shyt.

I'm a fan of technology but in reality, all its doing is making us less patient and lazy as fukk.

Log off and go check out a High School Basketball game or something...

I'm not dissing, i know the feeling of sitting around thinking I got every toy/gadget a man could want but yet it still doesn't entertain me. Lucky (or Unlucky) for me I got kids so I really don't get much time to be bored..
