I don't know if Reid is fired before he has a chance to release or trade Vick, I guess Vick is staying, With the offensive play calling and the offensive line, Vick has not been given a chance to succeed.
No QB can succeed with the offense throwing the ball 75percent of the time with a shaky offensive line in regards to pass protection.
I hate to get Nostalgic about greater times After observing this season I got to admit, It makes me really appreciate Donovan McNabb in his prime for us though, McNabb was a better quarterback than Vick in regards to turnovers.
Mcnabb threw the ball low (sometimes frustratingly so but he put it in a place where only his receivers could get it, and lets face it, he was throwing to James Thrash, Chad Lewis, Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston as primaries) (I can only imagine if he had Jackson Maclin Celek and Avant back in the day
)
and protection of the ball was not a problem because McNabb was big for a quarterback 6-2 240 pounds (that is the size of a fullback). when running the ball and staying in the pocket, it was hard to bring him down and Mcnabb knew how to qb slide..... defensive line man dreaded to play him every sunday. (You send a corner or safety blitzz at Mcnabb, they will have a hell of a time bringing him down)
To be honest, Reid was spoiled with McNabb, because he was such a great quarterback the majority of his tenure with philly. (eventhough he gets no credit since he never won a superbowl for us). Reid really felt comfortable throwing with McNabb at the helm. Vick is not McNabb.
All Vick has is his speed and a powerful arm, but when he is constantly getting hit, it will wear on him physically and mentally. Reid should not have Vick staying in the pocket. With the current state of the offensive line there should plays designed to let Vick run, it will tire the defenses, and keep them honest.
