I usually go on PencilJack and hire someone. They usually capture my vision very well. I learned being descriptive and detailed as possible helps. I also, always give photo references.

If you have a story you'd like to turn into a graphic novel and have the bread to get it done what do you think a reasonable cost per page is to have a story translated into storyboard?

Also what preparation should already be done for someone serious about having an illustrator draw their vision meaning should I already have each panel drawn out in stick figure prior and if not will this add to the cost, etc. .

Ill tell you what to expect. Most American's charge 100 per page and up. Penciljack.com has some great foreign artists. If you have a lot of bread @The Black Panther is very good. He illustrates too.

In terms of preparing a story, write out the synopsis for the piece. Then do bios for the characters, be as detailed as possible, you're creating life here. Then once you feel comfortable with both of those write an outline. Below is from writer cullen bunn but i can show you mine if it will help.

Make a few drafts. Then write the script.

If you don't script the artist won't understand your vision. So scripting is necessary and important.

I got my BA in english. It helped based on the teachers I had and the writing groups. But a writing annex can do the same I'm sure. I also read books on writing.

I actually use traditional methods to produce art, but I do use Photoshop to clean up pages after scanning them.

Clip Studio Paint, formerly known as Manga Studio, is a good, inexpensive alternative to Photoshop that's geared towards comic artists.

If you're looking for something free, GIMP is your best bet.
I've been using an older version of Photoshop that I refuse to update. I paid for it in college at a student rate, and I ain't paying for it again. :martinbp:

I'm currently doing commissions for clients but trying to get out word for my action webcomic in the link below. I got tired of Hollywood portraying black men as moist or gay so I took matters in my own hands and created for self.
Not gonna lie, all Brehs and brunettes would be greatly appreciated.

There's Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop. The latter that I use when I scan in my art to do my colors and other maintenance needed.

If you want to cut out some of the time of doing the leg work, you can draw straight to program via a Wacom tablet or software similar to it.
