List probably made by some new age lames that never read the OG Wolverine comics. List is a fail if Wolverine ain't #1. Period.

Most of the comic staff at IGN is well versed breh. All personal love for Spidey aside, he's the number 1 superhero of that company. He is the poster boy, he's the most relatable, the most human, and suffers the most heartbreak and triumph (shoutout to Shawn Michaels) Wolverine would be my number 2 if I made the list but overall it's Peter

Nope. Everything you jjust said relates directly to Mister Logan much more than Peter parker/Ben reilly/whoever the fukk else was Spider man....I like Spider man comics, but the heart and soul of Marvel is with Wolverine...his stories are richer, his villain relationships are much more complex and fun, and quite simply, he's the best there is at what he does...Spider Man is cool, but he's not on the same level as Logan in terms of the comics

Nah breh. Nah. I'll agree with his relationship to his villains being richer but everything else? Nah. And a lot of that has to do with Peter starting out as a 16 year old kid but Wolverine started out as a grizzled vet out the gate. He buries his pain, Peter doesn't. When Peter goes through something it gets him to his core and affects his work. He's the guy who has to choose between getting to see his aunt in the hospital or stopping Doc Ock. He's the guy who lost the woman he was planning to marry when his arch enemy dropped her off of the george washington bridge and worst of all, part of it was his fault. No matter what, he never loses his sense of humor or sense of responsibility. Even when life beats him down and he quits, he always comes back. I mean the guy quit being a superhero. When he first got his powers he did what most of us would do: try to get rich off of it. He had to grow into being who he is and that's always more relatable than someone fully formed.

And every relationship in his life is something he wants to save. Wolverine is a badass, definitely and he's great at what he does, but Spidey is a richer character. He can be dark or light, he can be fun or serious. You can tell a romantic story with him or an action story or a comedy story. He can be a member of the avengers, team with the x-men, hold down johnny's spot in the FF, or just be solo. He's the heart and soul of Marvel because he always bares his heart and soul; win or lose

1st bold: How does that make Peter's story more interesting? And the fact that WOlverine has such inner turmoil is why his stories are so much richer...his emotions are what make his so interesting and mostly UNPREDICTABLE...you never knew what Logan was gonna do and his personality...many people relate to Logan; passing through time, watching friends and family leave or die, forever never having comfort...Logan's pain was GENUINE and very powerful for the time period it was written in and to this day.

All that other stuff you listed has nothing on the Logan story...the wars that he witnessed, his time at Department H, the woman he loved dying, planting a claw in Sabretooth's brain (nothing spider-man has ever done touches that story arch, especially the actual comic where he tried to kill Creed, that shyt still haunts me), having hiss skeleton ripped out, I can't even list all the stuff but the people I grew up with in my neighborhood, which was black working class and others I know that grew up like me, we loved Wolverine because he refused to fukking lose...

You can't be serious with the second bold...Logan's romantic stories are SO MUCH better than Spiderman's its not even funny...Spiderman's love stories were the worst to me and I read that shyt alot; they were cheesy and one dimensional...Logan's romances were on epic levels
As for the team, thing, you are seriously taking away Logan's credits man...he led teams in multiple universes, acted as a lone wolf, and has refused to ever lose...

Wolverine is the REAL heart and soul of Marvel...Spiderman is just a commercial happy go lucky icon for the people who are either too afaid to really step into the Wolverine comics or they just have some personal connection with Spiderman, but they dont seriously think hes the heart and sould except from a commercial standpoint.

I read and loved Spiderman for a long time, but there is no way shape or form that he is th GENUINE, not supposed or popular, but GENUINE heart and soul of Marvel Comics over Wolverine. Yea Wolverine may be the darker character and not as commercial/capitalist-driven, but his life, story, emotions, and motivations are the real heart and soul of so many working people in the masses, its not even a close race in my opinion. Not even close.

Just going to have to disagree on this one breh because you're not going to change my mind and I'm not changing yours. Pete and Gwen, Pete and MJ are both great relationships that have depth to them especially Peter and MJ when JMS was on the book. I don't believe he's just the commercial face heart and soul, I believe he truly is. He shows a humanity that Wolverine won't let himself show and that's no diss to wolverine it's just reality of it.

And nothing I said was to discredit Logan or anything he's done, I'm making the argument for Spidey. I won't deny the guy who I said should be number 2 his props, I'm speaking up for the guy who I feel rightfully is number one. Like I said, genuine heart and soul because it's always on display. ALWAYS. They're two different characters with two different modes of operation but Spidey is clearly their ace

It's not subjective.

Wolverine's been killing people since his childhood centuries ago.

I hate to use wiki as a source but it's cited eight times at least:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antihero

Cap, Starks, (fukk) Summers but Summer, I can't speak for Thor, and Spider Man all go into battle with the intention not to kill.

Wolverine is like Punisher, he goes in with the intention if it comes to it then fine.

Except for Creed and Cyclops who he admittley held back on. Besides when he killed Sabretooth.

Wolverine doesn't go into battle with the intention to kill all the time, but he is more than willing to. All soldiers do, including Cap.

Make no bones about it, Logan is my favorite comic book character.

But heart and soul of the Marvel universe belongs to Spidey or more than likely, Cap.

And what I mean is who represents the Marvel universe.

Cap is the Heart of the Marvel Universe

Spidey is the Soul of the Marvel Universe

Logan is the backbone of the Marvel Universe

Stark is the head of the Marvel Universe
